Do you play with the controls inverted?
Im watching the TNT playback and in the beginning Brad is increasing his sensitivity. While he does, some of the guys go "Did you change to inverted?" He goes no, and the guys seems to think that inverting the controls is bogus. Now ive ALWAYS inverted them, what about you? And why are the GB crew against inverting? What am i missing?
I have no idea how you guys do it. It shouldn't even be an option on the screen. When ever my friends change it annoys the hell out of me. PLAY IT LIKE NORMAL!! All kiding aside though one of my friends just can't play unless it's inverted.
Always, I can't play if up is up and down is down. Gotta be up is down and down is up, it just feels right
I used to play inverted controls all the time when I was younger. Then I woke up one day and couldn't play inverted anymore. I don't know what happened.
The very first thing the campaign does is ask you if you want it inverted or not... some people just cannot play unless theyre inverted. (me included)
The 360 is great as you can auto-set all games to inverted in the options. With the PS3 you always have to do it manually which kinda sucks.
I've played inverted since Goldeneye. Something about Inverted works better in my mind.
I've tried to explain it as pulling the thumbstick back, rather than pushing it down. Pulling back and pushing forward better explain why down is up and up is down. I have played default on a controller, Halo LANs where friends just say "Here, play for me for a bit." But I always switch back to invert.
On the other hand, I play PC shooters on default. Because the forward is up mouse interaction is standard.
I used to play inverted with every fps, then i didnt play any for a little while and couldnt do it anymore.
That part of my brain just stopped working during my hiatus.
Always be Inverting, actually only on gamepads. People who don't invert are crazy....also max sensitivity................yyyyeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh....
Used to play inverted back in the PS2 days now I'm playing on normal, can play both still. In some games normal feels inverted because of the weird way the camera moves.
Ugh, I swear, every time one of these threads pop up I say the exact same thing.
You aren't pushing the stick up or down. Look at the stick. It is currently perpendicular with the ground. Unless you are holding your controller straight in front of you like a racecar wheel, the stick does not move "up" or "down", it moves "forward" and "back".
Go ahead, tilt your head forward. Tell me which direction you look. Go ahead and try it.
Did you look down? Huh, odd. What about if you tilt your head back?
You looked up?
Wow, that's pretty unnatural, hunh? Inverted controls, they're just not normal!
oh wait.
I play inverted. The reason is that the original Quake had inverted mouselook by default, and I have had it like that ever since.
It feels natural if you imagine tilting your head backwards to look up, as if pulling the back of your head downwards.
But, as mentioned, the main reason is that many older games had inverted the Y-axis by default. This probably means that us "inverters" are a dying race..
I've been playing inverted for all my life but just two weeks ago I don't any more. It's really bizarre.
omg... you are right... never thought about that this way! are you a genius?c'mon, be honest! you are, right? i will follow you and your wisdom" Inverted for me too, just seems natural. If you wanna look up you tilt your head back. "
I always play normal for a shooter, but for any kind of flight combat game it has to be inverted vertical. That's the only time where up is down and down is up makes sense. However, I have a friend who always plays inverted for shooters and I asked him why once. He said it's because if you ever use a real gun (which he has) it's easier to sort of push down on the butt end of the gun in a way to aim it up, and vice versa. Not sure if it's true, but it could be one reason why it feels more natural to people.
Ugh, I swear, every time one of these threads pop up I say the exact same thing.Exactly. This plus a lot of flight sims in the past trained my brain to play inverted. It feels more normal than the normal setting!
