well actuall halo ce is (for its time)
 
here are the major problems with this game
 
covenant take even more amunition to kill 
it doesnt look any better
the story is just okay and no where near the original
the weapons are tweaked to a point where they are almost unrecognizable 
 
and lastly there was no blood glutch 
again

Halo doesn't need hype to be successful, it's Halo. Bungie knows how to make great games, and Reach is looking to be among the, if not the best Halo/s.

As with all over hyped titles, or series games will wait until the game is $20. Actually may never play.

I think Halo 1 is one of the best games ever made. 
 I thought Halo 2 was really, really boring.. but I liked the story 
I thought Halo 3 was mediocre and mundane 
 I thought ODST was a massive piece of shit. 
 
I'm half way into Reach. It's easily the best Halo I've played since Halo 1.

I have never liked Halo before this. I had two days off this past Wednesday and Thursday, and Reach is all I have played. I was in the COD camp for the most part when it came to MP shooters (which I don't really play to begin with), but Halo Reach changed all of that. This is the most fun I have had online in a long while.
 
It's a bummer you don't like it though as you're missing out on a lot of what this game has to offer. The multiplayer stuff is the best I have ever seen in a game. The campaign is also great, as I am trucking my way through heroic at the moment and loving the challenge.
 
To each their own I guess.
