According to Gamespot: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6242904.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;1 This is kinda cool actually. Color me interested in what this actually means.
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
"Gears of War with Spartans, Violent and Bleek"
" In order for me to be interested they need to do something different with the tone and atmosphere of Halo. "I feel the same way.
"I thought it had kind of a Modern Warfare or Bad Company feel to it when I watched the trailer. "
But there was nothing in that trailer to indicate what the game will actually be like. It was just a bunch of Spartans doing exactly what spartans do best, looking badass. I got the same vibe off the Halo 3 and ODST trailers.
" Is it third person? "You know I'm usually open to that kind of stuff, but I hope not, please no, mainly because it would just suck.
" Awww........Am I the only one who liked Halo's old look "No, I'm definitely with you there.
I've always liked that Halo stayed away from the dull brown and grays we see in every other FPS.
But setting the game during the collapse of a planet was always going to change the tone pretty drastically. I'm sure we'll at least some more interesting environments later in the game.
And if nothing else, it's great to see the Elites back.
EDIT: Doesn't going in a Gears of War-esque direction sound like a bad move? These are the two biggest 360-exclusive franchises, and I'd imagine that the last thing you'd want would be for them to become too similar.

I really don't think Halo is at the point where it needs to mimic other games to succeed. I think I'd rather see them continue to go there own way. Whatever, though, I still haven't watched the trailer yet. Maybe tomorrow.

" I really hope they use this game to flush out master chief's character. "
Dude, just for future reference, it's "flesh out". Flush is just wrong on many levels, dude.
I never really got how you could make a Halo game more violent other then by adding stuff like limbs being blown off and head being blown off or something from sniper shots. Making it bloodier doesnt really make it more violent when the covenant are still gonna bleed purple and green and stuff. This game if it follows the book just screams squad based shooter since in the book you had Chief at ponit and then the sniper chick and the explosives guy. A squad based/class based Halo game could be cool. Maybe then the multiplayer could actually be something like humas vs covenant which would be good as long as one side doesnt have big disavantages like past Halo games.

Wow. Name one Halo game that's rated "T" (other than Halo Wars.) and a grim atmosphere and more violence has NOTHING to do with a coler pallet.

Animations can make it be more serious and so well, cartoony. Halo 3:ODST (the only Halo I have) felt very, cartoony. Jerky animation and words like "What the heck?" instead of other choice words made it feel almost childish, like it was barely hanging on to its "M" rating.

Bungie's moved up to mocap for Reach asopposed to the hand-animation they were using before, so that will likely address your animation issue.

That's what I'm saying. Halo: Reach is definatly looking alot more "grown up."
An article at Gamespot said it was like Gears of War with Spartans, now that's a strong statement.
" @Lies said:Indeed. Say what you will haters but Gears of War had a really dark tone. Halo with that type of tone is quite significantly different," @ADTR_ZERO said:That's what I'm saying. " @Zereta: Why do you think the humans should've lost? "
The Covenant had no chance when they replaced the Elites with brutes equipped with terribad armor. Their fur from Halo 2 was more resilient.
I wanted the humans to lose in Halo 1 and 2. They always won and it makes this terrible alien race kind of pathetic.
" @DystopiaX: That's exactly what I mean, too tonally similar. Those series have very different attitudes--Gears of War being gritty and bload-soaked, and Halo being bright and majestic. "I think that they could pull of the gritty thing, i mean they pulled off the almost noir-like atmosphere in ODST, so Bungie is definitely capable of more than bright and majestic. I'd wait to see more, but i think they're more than capable of pulling off a dark and gritty atmosphere.
