With Sony now putting out HD collections of nearly everything, MK and Prince of Persia now also coming, how has Microsoft not announced the existence of a Halo HD collection?
Is it just a matter of time, or is this really not going to happen? A HD collection of Halo and Halo 2 would sell millions right?
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
Halo HD Collection?
I would buy it. I would just want them to look better and for Halo 2 and 1 to have the same kind of multiplayer features as the newer games. They would fuck it up though and get rid of all the jank from Halo 2 multiplayer.
*Starts up Halo on the PC*
*1900x1200, bigger than 'full' HD*
I just blew all your minds.
*hopes nobody notices the HUD gets stretched horizontally at that resolution*
What would be the difference between that and what we have now, meaning that since Halo and Halo 2 are emulated, they are put out a 720p by the 360. Its not stretched out right? Would you want them to do a remake instead or take original assets, bump up to 1080p and put online multiplayer into it? So that essentially, the remakes are 360 titles now?
I would love to see Halo 2 multiplayer back, I miss Waterworks.
"The graphics would likely be cleaned up for the HD-remakes, hence the name. They'd also likely add achievements and online play, etc. What would be the difference between that and what we have now, meaning that since Halo and Halo 2 are emulated, they are put out a 720p by the 360. Plus Halo 2 is virtually unplayable on the 360 due to the ghosting issues. (which didn't affect multiplayer quite so badly).
If the price ain't absurd, I'd buy it.
If the price is absurd, I'll buy both version for 5 euro each in their original forms!.
Fine either way!
" I would like that.........however What i really want to see is the multiplayer from Halo:CE PC come to XBLA, kind of like what EA did with BF:1943 but with all the maps form the PC version and the flamethrower "This is the only right thing to do.
Halo 2's had it's time. Anybody who wants to play Halo CE and 2 can just buy them at any Gamestop for $5 each, then play them on the 360.
It'd be fun, but Reach feels like the logical conclusion of Halo for me at this point. It brought back everything I liked about Halo 1's multiplayer (no dual-wields, the nice pistol, blood gulch), and incorporated it beautifully with all the lessons learned with 3, and ODST, and made a really tight, kinda end-all experience. The campaigns aren't something I'd want to revisit, as Halo 1's level design is a little simplistic for these days. I mean it was the first really significant console shooter (other than goldeneye, but you get my point), and as such the level design is pretty old school. You'd have to do more than up-rez the game to make it more interesting, is basically what I'm saying.
Hey, I was just thinking the exact same thing recently! If it's $40, I'm buying it, no questions asked. It would be nice if they'd put in some new high-res textures, like the XBLA Perfect Dark port, though.
" ....Halo 3 is already in "HD"."Its a 360 game, but its not HD. At least not 1080. Play Halo 3 then play another game and you'll realise how blurry it is. Tekken 6 and Beautiful Katamari were lower res too so it isn't one off.
" @Aleryn: I wonder if Microsoft has rights for the Engine. Since Bungie is independent, I think Halo HD with Reach engine is not a possibility. "Not sure that's an issue. The original Halo engine was used back in the day to make non-Bungie games. Stubbs the Zombie, being the prime example.
If they do it they have to be remade with new textures or the assets from the newer games since you can download them on the Xbox 360.
Here's the way I look at it. It isn't going to happen. Here's the reason why:
Sony is doing HD collections of mostly single player games (the only one that isn't single player is Mortal Kombat). Sony is doing this because there's is high support from the long time fans. Many people that played these games play other single player games for the stories and can easily go back and play these games. With Halo, it's tough. With the release of the online multiplayer for Halo 2, a lot of people stuck to that. I say maybe 30% of the people that bought Halo bought it for the multiplayer. They'll probably complete the single player, but won't go back to it. Most of the Halo players will see a Halo: CE and Halo 2 HD collection, but wonder why they should they buy that if they already have Halo Reach.
But hey, I could be wrong. All the Halo fans might just burst out of their multiplayer bubble and say "hey, Halo has a cool story line. I want to revisit that." However, I have high doubts.
" I would buy it. I would just want them to look better and for Halo 2 and 1 to have the same kind of multiplayer features as the newer games. They would fuck it up though and get rid of all the jank from Halo 2 multiplayer. "H2 had the best MP of all the halo games.
I am enjoying what they have done with Reach though.
