Did Bungie have plans to add MLG rules to Halo: Reach playlists?

There are a few super competitive playlists. I think they are called 'the arena' which should be similar to the traditional no radar, battle rifle and pistol mlg rules

I'm pretty sure Bungie has been working with MLG to get a playlist to their liking, but I don't think it will be out at launch.

It was announced in Raleigh that MLG will be part of the first playlist update.
EDIT: It is not ranked so it is social playlist.

Yep. It is going to be rather interesting since everything is basically a social playlist now.

@SpikeSpiegel:   I'm gonna guess some games will not even be close. Majority of MLG players in Halo 3 had a 50.

I'm guessing that people that were very serious about the playlist might start using GameBattles in order get proper games.

@Green_Incarnate: "Ranks" as you knew them in Halo 3 do not exist anymore. The only ranked playlists in Reach are Arena lists; the rest use a purer form of True Skill with ranks that are invisible to players in order to make quality matches. Since the Arena rating formula is Slayer-only and not designed to handle Objective scoring, and MLG has plenty of Objective games in their settings, it's impossible to make an Arena MLG playlist.

@Green_Incarnate: Because nothing is ranked anymore besides Arena....  Where have you been.  All you have is a trueskill rank and that is not visible to the public it works "behind the scenes".

I remember the beta had a strange ranking system with gold and silver emblems. I don't really follow new games coming out in close detail. Doing so drives me crazy.

@blacklabeldomm: Yes, there are 5 different divisions: Steel, Bronze, SIlver, Gold, Onyx - each season/month your division will reset and you'll have to prove yourself again.

    @Thumbrunner: No, it is not.

@NekuSakuraba: Yes. IIRC,MLG announced that they will be switching to Reach for the 2011 season, and that the rest of this year's Combines will feature Halo: Reach instead of Halo 3, in preparation for next year's competitions.

Staying with Reach until the next Halo or Bungie game, I presume.

They already started- the next combine is reach only and the top 8 seeded players from the combine will become seeds 9-16 for the next full season of reach (h3 seeds 1-8 will retain their seedings).
And MLG officials said that it would be out within a week of launch, or the first playlist update for the game.

Yes. they always move to the new game as a business decision, because more players play the new one so that's where the interest will be. They'll discontinue it whenever there's too little interst for that to make sense.

Tentative MLG settings based on what I've seen from the community are DMR start, either no AA's, sprint, or evade, 110-120% speed, 90-100% damage (debate on whether DMR should be 4shot or 5), 110% jump.
V1 maps (before they forge shit) will likely be Sanctuary (whatever the remake is called), zealot (low g area blocked off), and the cage. The only objective game decided on so far was CTF on Sanc.

Again those aren't official, just what most of the community and some of the community playtesters (some of the community help out the testers with testing gametypes) seem to agree on.

Not yet. They have to balance everything out first. Settings, seeing what's the best map to choose, Weapons, and stuff like that. As for Reach itself I hope it comes back. In Halo 3 MLG was one of my favorite gametypes.
