Just lurking on GAF and I came across this picture in the ODST thread. Seems like a pretty legitimate shot of what is ostensibly the new BR in Halo: Reach. This could also be totally unrelated to Halo I suppose. Just thought I'd post it to see what you guys think.
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
New BR in Halo: Reach?
" neogaf has a bunch of pics now... and then it clicked. I would bet you anything that this was jeff's secret assignment last week, there was probably some press event to show it for the first time, and thats where these pics came from "That's what I was thinking. From what the poster of these said, it sounds like a sort of press event.
" @MAN_FLANNEL:MORE MORE MORE!!!!!!!!
It may be a Carbine.
Here is the needler: "
" Oh how far will they go to milk this franchise to death? "Just one more time..... then microsoft can milk it!
Of course that being said, i couldnt give a damn about the supposed 'milking' - i love halo!
" @TheMustacheHero said:oh yes, soon to be four games in 9 years, with one expansion and one rts offshoot is milking." Oh how far will they go to milk this franchise to death? ""
So like, if this is a prequel to Halo... why are we getting these guns that seem way better and more advanced then the guns in the other Halo games?
Am I making any sense here? It seems strange to get super needler carbines and battle rifles with ammo readouts in a game that takes place before the games with the inferior guns.
It looks like it, seems like the health system will be similar to Halo 1 also." A squad next to the radar? "

"Its true that it is going to be a prequel or w.e. but at the end of the day if we get guns that are more powerful, sound better feel better and look better. I am not going to complain
Holy shit this looks awesome. It doesn't look as campy as the Halo trilogy. The guns actually look menacing and seem like they would fuck you up.
The new engine looks great to just comparing the new lazer to the first one show just how much the graphics have improved.

"The battle of Reach takes place only a day or so before the first Halo game. Been a while since I read the books.
Don't question stupidity, it's pointless." @OmegaPirate said:

Seriously, those screens look fucking awesome. Oh man, I can't wait for the beta.

I don't hate halo at all - in fact i love 3 and ODST - However i'm not sure how i'm gonna feel if reach ends up being the same looking , same playing (and as far as comments have pointed out) same engine as 3 and ODST - if that's the case then i'll be a little disappointed
If not, then roll on Reach ^_^
Awesome, I'm sold. More Halo? Don't mind if I do." It looks like Halo 3 with a redesigned HUD. I'll bet you anything that's what it'll turn out to be. "
" They would fucking make it an FPS. Given the story, I think it would've been nicer in third-person. Nonetheless, I'm excited solely because it focuses around Reach. "It wouldn't make much sense if Microsoft turned their FPS powerhouse into a TPS to compete with Gears of War, their TPS powerhouse.

" @natetodamax said:Exactly. If they can improve the multiplayer, particularly small scale MP (big team is incredible in halo 3, but Team slayer, doubles, etc are awful). I don't like the sound of these perks though. I dont get bungies thinking, right now halo 3 has about treble the population of cod4... WHY DOWNGRADE??Awesome, I'm sold. More Halo? Don't mind if I do.
