    Bungie's taken Forge way above and beyond the Halo 3 variant for Reach as they show in this brand new vidoc from Comic Con.

    •  Most of the advanced Forge techniques from Halo 3 are now built in features- geomerging, etc.
    • One huge playspace to Forge on- bigger than anything we've seen before
    • Snap to grid and more precise placement options- place objects by degrees and units.
    • Can now rotate camera around pieces without dropping them
    • Add details to pieces- e.g. Blue details on blue base.
    • Several Halo 2 classics shown recreated in there to a startling degree of accuracy- Ascension, Lockout, Sanctuary, Blood Gulch all show up, along with maybe a few others
    Some other small things, but that's all I can say off the top of my head. Looks leagues better than Halo 3. Competitive Firefight was also announced at Comic Con but no vidoc for that.

    The community is going to go absolutely nuts with this. I'm still baffled at some of the craziness people managed to create using Halo 3's.

    Forge was a pain to use in Halo 3, but Bungie seems to have turned it around in this game. It looks incredible. The community is going to make some truly astounding things with this.

    For all it's many up-a-bit-no-down-a-bit-oh-DAMMIT faults, I loved the original Forge mode. So am I excited about this? You bet your vectors I am.

    Holy shit there's a snapping feature and better camera controls now! Using forge was so frustrating in Halo 3, but this actually looks like something that's bearable to use.

    That's pretty good. I made a couple good forge maps with Halo 3, but this way will be so much easier. Good on Bungie.

    There's a good possibility that the best of the best variants will eventually be included in some community hopper.

    You'll have to be more specific than "PC games".  Which quality modern shooters on the PC have real-time map manipulation that you would classify as more robust and user-friendly than what's being presented in Halo: Reach?  I just got a new PC and was thrilled at the prospect of trying out all the amazing shooters that PC gamers brag about.  Then I started looking for them and found almost nothing of note that wasn't faithfully done on consoles.  Crysis Warhead is probably the only notable PC shooter I can think of, and the combat wasn't paritcularly engaging.  One of the later Unreal Tournament games, maybe?  But then that has no real single-player.   The ease and elegance of Bungie's theater mode, file-sharing, and Forge are unlike anything else I've seen available. 
     
    Little Big Planet.  Really?  You might as well have mentioned the Etch A Sketch.

    I would have prefered if they made a full map editor but it's better than nothing, something like what Far Cry 2 and Far Cry Instincts did. Yes those games multiplayer weren't as good as Halo Reach imo but there is no doubt that the map maker was far superior, imagine if Forge World was like this.
