Will Halo Reach use a new, more Advanced graphics engine?
Because Honestly, The Tired old Halo 3 Engine really isnt going to cut it anymore. Id really rather them go for a Graphicaly impressive game. Halo ODST didnt look that great. and for the time Halo 3 did look really good, but we have higher expectations for graphics now.
If I recall, the Halo 3 Engine was just an upgraded Halo 2 engine which ran at 540p. Halo Reach will use a whole new engine optimised for higher resolutions.
It probably will, but the tired old Halo 3 engine? It may not be the best but isn't there 2 games out there that have used this tired engine? I'd classify it as exclusive more than tired..
Im going by my personal opinon. I thought the early levels looked pretty good for the time.
No [edit - for clarity I'm saying 'No' to the people who were saying Halo 3 looked bad], Halo 3 could look fantastic in some places. The HDR lighting is literally unrivaled by any other game on any platform, and the HDR is the reason the game was rendered in a lower resolution than 720p.
Not saying the engine is great at everything, some of the outdoor areas of ODST looked like some of the worst graphics I've seen on the 360. The engine could do indoor alien graphics fantastically well though.
" some of the outdoor areas of ODST looked like some of the worst graphics I've seen on the 360. "I lol'd. Do you only play games with insane graphics then? Because... what...
I lol'd. Do you only play games with insane graphics then? Because... what...What's the chapter where you play as the guy that starts with the rocket launcher, on a beachfront and there's lots of sand? The one that's easiest to play through without shooting anything?
That level was absolutely fucking ugly, for the most part. There were literally Xbox 1 games that looked better.
" @Hitchenson said:I know the level you're on about, I'd agree it's probably the weakest looking of the ODST campaign. But comparing it to an original Xbox title? That just seems a little overboard.I lol'd. Do you only play games with insane graphics then? @Raven_Sword: I hope it uses a new engine too. But at the same time I sorta don't. I hope they don't change the physics in any way, because I had a blast getting hit by flying warthogs and stuff. If they could make it look better, that'd be sweet but I hope they don't change the art style. It's pretty colorful in a sea of greying brownish shooters. Hehe.
The only real Change in the engine from Halo 3 to ODST was the lighting. So hopefully the will alter the engine more, or otherwise Reach will look dated.
"@Raven_Sword said:Did it? I thought it looked terrible, especially in the early levels. Some of the lightning on the armor was good, but that was about it. Edit: I should clarify that the first time I played it was in late 2007. "" and for the time Halo 3 did look really good "
Late 2007, like everybody else?
