Giant Bomb's "Burger" of the Year 2010 - Post your Pics!

#1 Edited by DanceDanceKennypants (632 posts) -

Ladies and Gents,

in response to Meptron's awesome, awesome post, I have decided to propose a competition for Giant Bomb's "Burger"of the year 2010.

Rules:

  • From henceforth, "Burger" may be taken to mean any audacious meal you cook or otherwise prepare by hand  for the sheer joy of pigging out on it afterwards. It could be an outrageous Pizza, Hoagie/Hero/Roll, Sandwich, Nacho-based concoction, Noodlefest, whatever.
  • These entries must show imagination and effort. A giant bag of Lays or a huge bowl of M&Ms is not a valid entry. ...let's say, there must be at least five ingredients.
  • A proper, tasty burger or snack must be bad for you. These burgers must be reasonably considered to be extremely unhealthy.
  • These burgers must be original works, you may of course, include any ingredients you like.
  • You must cook it yourself or at least be present when the burger is being cooked, prepared or eaten.
  • Take a photo and post it in this thread. Any further medical proof (certs, photos or written submissions from your doctor) of any post-burger trauma will lend weight to your entry's consideration for Burger of the Year.
  • Winner will be decided by the Giant Bomb user base, using a poll or shouts in a forum, whichever is most appropriate.

 A burger, yesterday
This competition is all about the sheer joy of occasional gluttony, and the glassy eyed, dopamine-slowed buzz afterwards. Meptron has set the bar pretty high, which is an excellent way to start this competition. Size often matters, but judicious creativity will go a long way to impressing the Giant Bomb audience. If you happen to have any photos of ridiculous food you have prepared yourself lying around, post 'em up here and let's try and get the ball rolling.

Here's a few to get people into the mood:

Only 3 of those are burgers, and one of them looks like a larvae-filled pie. That said, I'll take a picture the next time I make a burger.

I feel a little ill now.

:(

Will post a pic once I find one though.

I nominate the Jumbo Breakfast Roll!

Note: I don't have one on me so I can't take a picture yet. Not my pictures!

Breakfast rolls, yes, yes.

Breakfast rolls keep this nation moving, so to speak. I didn't stick them on the list because only we Paddys would get the reference.

The world doesn't know what it's missing.

I'm very much a novice at cooking and grilling, so I'll leave it to the pros at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries. Probably my favorite place in the entire world right now.

They all look damn disgusting.

The only way to enjoy a full Irish breakfast without using a knife and fork. Great for curing a hangover.

Yeah that pizza thing made me gag pretty bad. Seriously what the hell is in that?

@wolf_blitzer85:

It's noodle pizza. Disgustingly brilliant.

This competition is all about the excess.

Go elsewhere if you're looking for saintly salads or soy lattes. Good day!

@DanceDanceKennypants: That's not so bad then. And hell no I'm not going anywhere dammit! I can totally see the amazingness this thread could turn into.

I refuse to participate because of such blasphemy. This is unacceptable.

those pizza burgers should be disqualified for their ambiguous nature.

Burgers are meat between bread.

Please no freaks of nature, and Im pretty sure they were 2009 burgers anyway...

Awwe cmon, the challenge should be within the constraints of being some form of meat in between two pieces of some kind of bread.  Without any constraints, this will just turn into people putting a pile of captain crunch and wood chips on top of their live pet and saying, "HELL YEAH MOST CREATIVE THING EVER!"

I'm with you in spirit, not in practice.

I nominate the Tom Sellick's Mustache from Lunchbox Laboratory in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA. It's a $15 burger real humans can eat, and it's delicious.

@YoctoYotta:

Wow.

I was in Seattle for a month over the summer, and I became very fond of the Von's Cheeseburger while I was there.

I also had a Fat Smitty's, at Fat Smitty's. That's out of town, heading up the Olympic Peninsula somewhere.

Awesome burgers. Come to think of it, I might have pictures...

@Snail:

Your discomfort is understandable. However, this is 2010, and Burgergod is dead. Just sayin'...

@Brendan:

That is the whole point of the competition!

Sure, sprinkling chips on a pizza may be a run of the mill entry and won't win any prizes, (in fact there is no actual prize) but photos of what people pig out on will be hellafun.

Hellafun, I tells ya.

so much potential in this thread...

Well i'm vegetarian, so do vegetarian burgers count?

#20 Edited by CptBedlam (4454 posts) -

I love those pics ... well except of that thing that looks like a larva pie ...

More please!

@Gizmo:

Vegetarian anything is welcome, as long as it's utterly ridiculous.
