I had this overly indulgent masterpiece at a restaurant in Napa last night. So good. It was made with Snake River Farms American-raised Kobe beef, California swiss cheese, and onions marinated in wine. It came with a few hard-fried onion rings and was $17.00. I've had Kobe beef several times before, and it always leaves me wishing that all beef was that tender and tasted that good. That's the problem with Kobe...it sort of ruins regular beef for you. This particular Kobe is hand-ground in the restaurant from sirloin.
If you've never had Kobe, you should try it sometime. The beef is more flavorful and tender than any you've ever had before, even compared to beef from places like Harris Ranch. Yum.
(This picture doesn't really do the burger justice...it was 1/2 pound of beef and over 7" in diameter)
Hamburger
A hamburger is a hunk of ground beef served between two pieces of bun-configured bread. Hamburgers are often served with a variety of toppings and condiments. It is named for the region in which it was invented, not for the kind of meat (as is often mistakenly suggested).
The Kobe Beef Burger
Kobe beef makes fantastic burgers. That particular combination of ingredients you mentioned seems like it would create an excellent burger.
It doesn't look as good as I expected, but it's still making me hungry, and I bet it tastes amazing.
" @JJOR64 said:I second that. My best friend lives in St. Helena (Napa Valley) and sheesh, you can't get a decent lunch there for under $15 minimum." That looks fucking good, but for $17? That's a little pricey for me. "It's a little expensive, but it shouldn't really be compared to the price of other typical restaurant burgers. It's a once in awhile thing, and this wasn't a cheap restaurant anyway. "
I've always been interested in trying Kobe Beef, but I never stumble upon it at the restaurants that I go to (for some reason Hooters and McDonald's don't have Kobe Beef Burgers. Go figure.) Maybe when I head back to San Fran for spring break, I'll treat myself to a such a delicacy.
