Messiah is an orchestral choir song composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741. In the centuries following its debut, the piece has become a widely recognized, frequently played piece of classical music. With the eventual advent of movies, television, and video games, the song has been incorporated into numerous soundtracks.
In particular, the chorus, commonly referred to as the Hallelujah Chorus, has appeared time and again in popular culture. It is often played against scenes of miraculous triumph or victory. In the game Catherine, for example, it plays each time that the player clears one of the block tower stages and Vincent is able to escape.
