The story of the Harry Potter books (and the movies and games that are based on them) revolves around a kid named Harry Potter. Harry lost his parents when he was merely 1 year old. At the time, a dark wizard named Voldemort struck fear into the hearts of witches and wizards around Great-Britain, where the story takes place. One night, Harry's parents get a visit from Voldemort, and he swiftly kills them. However, somehow, Harry manages to survive the deadly "Avada Kedavra" curse, and the spell backfires, severely hurting Voldemort and leaving Harry with a scar-shaped scar on his forehead. The books take place years after these events, and the first one, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as Harry, now 11 finds out he gets to go and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
There have been many spin-off games and games based directly on the books or movie, and EA owns the right to the franchise for videogame making. These games get released around the same time as the accompaning movies hit theathers.
