In his harvest moon title, the series steers away from having Jack (the usual male protagonist) as its main character, and for the first time introduces a female. The game resembles Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life in every almost other aspect, apart from the fact that you are living as a heterosexual female, who now has to choose from three available bachelors (as opposed to three available bachelorettes in HM:AWL). The fact that in this game, the main character has to get pregnant and bear a child, does not interrupt the process of farming in any way, as the pregnancy sequence is simply skipped an a child "magically" appears.Interestingly enough, the game only allows the player to give birth to male childre, which are heavily influenced by their father and the behaiviour of their parents.Another addition tot the game, lets the player now choose between a total of eight outfits (something that was not possible in HM:AWL). These items can be purchased on the market or sometimes be obtained otherwise.

Gameplay
The game still revolves around the same concept the whole Harvest Moon series does: farming. In the game, the player is put into the role of a farmer who arrives new to a farm in Forget-Me-Not Valley. The player then can start planting and watering several crops which can then later be sold at the market or given to other locals. As the game progresses, and the player earns more money, more equipment can be bought, enabeling the player to pursue bigger project such as the raising of cows, cattles and other animals. These tasks rely heavily on the object of repitiion and tediousness as, for example, crops have to be watered ever day (1 day in the game is about 20 minutes long). Other aspects of the game include meeting other people from around town, and making friends with them, as well as giving gifts to available bachelors to be able to one day settle down. Apart from this, the game also relies on other activities, such as fishing, digging for focils, cooking and simply exploring the world.Reception
The game was received very critically by major game sites such as IGN, GameSpot and Computer Games Magazine. The main point of these criticisms being that the game was presented as a sequel to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life while both games are extremely similar. However, the game was praised for giving a female perspective on familiar aspects previously presented in Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Overall, the game received average reviews, such as 70% on Meta Critic and 72% on Game Rankngs.
