This game looks wonderful on the iPad, such that I rarely load up the iPhone version anymore. The play is easy to learn and difficult to master, and random opponents are as entertaining to play with as Facebook friends. Hero Academy is a dangerous game. It’s charming, contains impressively vast strategic possibilities and fits in your pocket. All this comes together in a way that actively forces you drop whatever your doing every time your phone vibrates. Just one more turn. And another one...and another one. I’m going to start this review with a statement about myself: I do not play mobile phone games. I have tried to, but I never found the platform fascinating as a gaming device, even with all the celebrated releases. The fact is I simply don’t like the idea of being forced to use handicapped controls that deteriorate the overall experience.
