Campaign
The campaigns in Heroes of Might and Magic 1, centers around who will be king. The four armies that vie for the throne are the armies of the Knights, Warlocks, Sorceror, and Barbarian as they vie for control of the realms. Each campaign is divided up into missions, and the player always controls one type of army as they go against another. Armies exsist under the command of Heroes who can carry up to five stacks of soldiers and levels up and gains more commander powers which he can apply on the battlefield. For the purposes of canon the Knight wins the war and his death would later set up the succession wars between Roland and Archibald. Each side has its own unique advantage.
