I kicked around this idea a bit in the HotS ID Topic, now it's for real. The name of the chat channel is "giantbomb" and right now it has two people in it. Join it now and you'll never have to think about it ever again, it'll just be there. Then there'll be 3 people. Forever.

Seriously though Chat Channel's a way better way to get groups together than trading IDs in a thread. All you gotta do when you want to play is say "whassssupppp let's fucking do this!", say what you're looking play (coop or qm) and lo and behold you will get an invite. Or someone will say "Yeaaahhhhhhhhhh let's murk em" and ask you for an invite. Then you will declare each other friends and get hell of bonus XP. It's real simple and great!

Again, the chat channel's name is "giantbomb". I hope to see lots of people in it soon! And lots of people using it as well. To join you can type the following command.

/join giantbomb

@hypnotoadbrwowrowrow: I don't know nothing about linking to HOTS chat channels outside of games, all I know is that in game you can type "/join giantbomb" into the chat and you'll join the chat channel.

If you've been ignoring the chat since it automatically puts you in the general chat you can improve it drastically by typing "/leave (whatever general chat is called)" into there. You can also, once in there, type "/who" to see how many people are online. The ideal number would be like a dozen to a few dozen. We've got a ways to go but hey, first few hours of this being a proper thing. I'm sure we'll get there.

@bane122: What? That's lame. Does that usually happen in chat channels? Hmm. I suppose it can't be helped? Not like if we switched to something hell of obscure (like "langzone") they couldn't follow. Unless they just guessed we were converging around that chat channel or people just randomly drop into video game site name chat channels to talk mess. I suppose that's possible.

@themasterds: No clue. I like having the channel named giantbomb though, and given how quickly they were in there I'm betting they read the forums anyway. I'm sure we can deal with or ignore any dicks.

@empirepaintball: Yep! It's hard to tell if people are on or not because the messages don't show up in a match like the rest of chat does as far as I know. So if someone is in a match they won't be able to respond to the channel messages. Also, there aren't a whole lot of people on to begin with really.

I'd like to corroborate that there are never more than about 4-5 people in the channel, but that's also because you have to be idling in the channel to show up there. If you're in a game, I'm pretty sure you're no longer in the channel. Seems like most people try to talk to the channel, no one talks back because those 4-5 people are all AFK all the time, then everybody just gives up and finds a match on their own.

More people need to join the channel.

I joined too, had my first GB game today; absolutely lovely as expected.

@zaccheus: Oh man, explain how. Whenever I'm online there are like 3-6 other duders in the channel, and they're all either AFK or actively in a game (meaning you don't see what people are saying in the channel when you're playing a match), so I say something, wait 2-3 minutes wherein no one responds in any way, then I give up and hit Quick Match.

That has happened for me about 20 times at this point.

I just got a key so I'm downloading it now. I'll join the channel when I get set-up. I'm a complete newbie, never played a MOBA except for 10 minutes of DOTA 2. Should be interesting.

This is a pretty good tip! you always join back in the channel!

You know Dan you should friend anyone from the chat you play with at least temporarily because you get like 20% or 25% bonus XP if you're playing with a friend.

If you ever want something like this done in the future, you can use the PM All Mods link found in the Community Rules or on the right hand column of any forum page to send us a message. Response times on stuff like that are usually measured in minutes, not hours or days.
