Look at the franchises this dude has created. Miyamoto is pretty uncontested on his throne, but Kamiya-San might be the "hardcore" videogame producer version of Miyamoto. I really hope he delivers in Bayonetta!!

MORE awesome than Shigeru Miyamoto... Kamiya Has a PERFECT Record, while Shigeru has some missteps.

And IMO Kamiya made more enjoyable titles than Miyamoto :)

I couldn't agree more. I've never played a Hideki Kamiya game I didn't like. Everything he makes is nothing short of stellar.

He's done some good work but he's nowhere near as influential as Miyamoto and I don't see how he could be - Sadly this guy has been overshadowed by Miyamoto and Kojima and is a bit of an also-ran.

I love both of their work, they both bring out awesome games at different ends of the spectrum.

Nowhere near as influential?  God no, couldn't be.  I mean, everyone only rips off DMC's combat setup all the time, even to the point of making their OWN critically acclaimed games (points finger at God of War).  There's also the resurgence of interest in 2D games, and I'm sure that hasn't led to anything crazy going on in the industry!!!  He's also only the guy who, ya know...MADE SURVIVAL HORROR!  I'm sure that had no influence anywhere whatsoever, right?
Totally worthless dood compared to Miyamoto and Kojima, let me tell ya.  =  P

Influential? Yes, definitely. As much as Miyamoto? No. Miyamoto laid the groundwork for the adventure and 2D platformer genres, two of the genres which Kamiya has laid his stake.

Hmmm....would seem that I never said he was above Miyamoto in any way, but he is definitely AS influential.  Otherwise, the work that he's done wouldn't be the standard today.

Miyamoto may have laid groundwork...but so did The Sex Pistols.  That doesn't mean they were great.  That just means they were innovators...the same as Kamiya.  Therefore, I hold Kamiya and Miyamoto on the same pedestal together.  They are the kinds of guys that continue to push our industry forward.

Kamiya is definitely better than Miyamoto these days but overall I'd give Miyamoto the edge.

P.S. Kamiya's profile pretty is too cool.

Oh yeah he does have a perfect track record while Miyamoto made Wii Music *shudders* And I just saw that Kamiya was on the RE1 team. I've only seen him get mentioned for what he did in RE2 for some reason.

Yeah, I'd say so. Him, Mikami and Miyamoto are easily my favorite game designers.
