MTV has recently held its very first Videogame Awards show and the legendary Hideo Kojima was the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award. The award was presented to him by Assassin's Creed producer (and friend of Kojima Productions) Jade Redmond. Mr. Kojima also conducted a short acceptance speech in English, which is extremely rare for him to do.

Mmmm....tasty Jade Raymond.
Funny. He's winning a music television award show achievement award for video games. I'll be really impressed when he gets the NBA MVP.

Dude. Kojima has been making games since the early 80s. The first Metal Gear came out in 1987. Its not 10 years, more like 25.
No they didn't. Jade Redmond was referring to the first Metal Gear Solid which came out in 1998 and is actually the 3rd Metal Gear title. The first was released in 1987 on the MSX in Japan and Europe, but was never released in America until it was included in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

He definitely deserves this award. True, it's MTV, but I think MTV is more credible than G4, who I believe gave Kojima a similar award in 2004. It's also neat to hear Kojima speaking in English. And great to hear him say he won't retire! :D
