Ok, call me what you like, say I'm jumping the gun, whatever... but this does not sound good. The plot has never been a big part of the Hitman series, and I hope to shit it's not going to be some bullshit third-person shooter with "sweet assassination moves" instead of the excellence that is has been in the past.

Also.. how the fuck can Hitman be darker? There are some downright brutal situations in those games.

By rebooting Agent 47 as an African American male protagonist.

I couldn't care less about the cutscenes. Just don't fuck up the gameplay, and we're cool.

Why must everything continually get 'darker'? This is all Chris Nolan's fault.

Goddamn you, Chris Nolan!

"Also, it seems IO are taking a very Hollywood approach to the production..."

Might as well stop reading there, as it tells you everything you need to know.  I've never liked hitman games, but this is depressing on so many levels.

I never played it but wasn't Hitman 2 suppose to very dark even compared to the others?

This confirms those rumors that the game was going to somehow maybe relate to the new film although this seems more in tone than plot. Which is good since that Hitman film was terrible. A bit worried about it now but we'll see at E3 no doubt.

Yeah, that whole part where it's supposed to match up with movie sequel is kinda weird.

That series gets any darker you won't even be able to see it.

And have hair.
He has to have an Afro. Big enough to hide a hand gun in it.

Wasn't Hitman always about the assassinations? They should just have that with a minimal story where 47 gets a text on his phone and goes to murder somebody with a toaster

#32 Posted by Eaxis (770 posts) - 2 years, 9 days ago

I love the Hitman series, they better not screw this up.

#33 Posted by AndrewB (6872 posts) - 2 years, 8 days ago

I'm not worried about it. If IO screws this one up, they won't have much a future and they'll get what they kind of deserve. I'd hate to see such a great series fail, but if that's what it comes to... by now, I'm almost numb from franchises losing what they once were in order to go for the mass market appeal. I hope for both their sake and mine that their marketing terms are just empty buzz words to drum up the more simple-minded crowd.

"A very Hollywood approach", means that this game "won't be good." They could've made a good film, but they ended up releasing a steaming pile of crap.

makes you wonder why on earth they'd do such a thing when their 2006 title, the third sequel in their franchise, was widely loved and critically acclaimed.. why would they ruin such an amazing streak ?

I remember thinking the same thing about Blood Money before it came out.
I still think it's too early to tell, and judging by this article. It just looks like they wanna tell a better story.
That all fine by me, just as long as they follow a few simple rules.
1) David Basteson reprises his role to voice 47
2) You can still successfully complete a mission without killing anyone but your target (by choice of course).
3) Keep it classy.
The Hitman franchise was always about choice, from the beginning they only told you the who and where. The rest was up to you to figure out utilizing the skills 47 had available to him.

I'm not denying that they might fuck it up. But considering their track record for making badass Hitman games. I'd like to think that we have nothing to worry about.
Fingers crossed!

I saw a gameplay demo at IO Interactive yesterday. I had to sign an NDA so can't really say anything I guess.

What they showed was different from the previous games but it looked pretty cool

I'm keeping the faith in this sequel.
