Apparently people the world over were entranced by the piercing stare and profound baldness of Timothy Olyphant's Agent 47 and his slutty Russian friend. IESB.net reports that the first Hitman movie grossed roughly 100 million dollars worldwide, a number that makes the stomach churn, though it also helps make sense of news that the producers of the original film are moving ahead with a sequel. Though no casting decisions have been revealed yet, they've signed hot young Hollywood screenwriter Kyle Ward to pen the script.

I'm not sure why Ward is considered such a hot commodity, considering his two meaningful credits are for another movie about a hitman that's being produced by Michael Bay's production company, and Kane & Lynch , both of which are still far from release. But hey, considering those credits, I guess Hitman is right in his wheelhouse, right? I can't say I'm thrilled about this news, though as I race towards the bottom of the barrel of video-game movies for TANG, I suppose there are far worse things than another Hitman movie. In potentially more positive news, IESB is also reporting that a fifth Hitman game is on its way with a release target of late 2010, and the promise that it "will take Agent 47 in a whole new direction." I have no interest in watching a Hitman movie. Movies based on video games are horrible but video games based on movies can be good. Look at the Bourne game, it is awesome!

I'm all for it. I liked the first one, sure it wasn't fantastic but it was pretty decent and certainly one of the better videogame based movies out there.

I can't wait, i'm the only few that actually liked the first movie. Then again i'm also called Hitman Agent 47.

But I respectfully disagree with Ryan, Agent  42(?) does extremly care for the priest in the one hitman game I liked/played, and he had ppl(say the prostitute) who he liked, even though there seemed nothing sexual about it. It seemed more that his world was a negative cynical one, where a little light would shine. You get the sense of betrayal in the end, and finally retribution of sorts, where he slips the leash. But that was a number of Hitman games ago.

Unfortunately film studios follow ticket sales and not movie reviews when making the decision of continuing with a sequel. So regardless if the movie was worth watching or not the ticket has been sold. Times that by 100 million viewers curious enough to see how well the video game translates onto the big screen (which rarely does) you've got yourself a sequel in the works. Now as for the actual game coming in 2010 I'm curious to know what direction they'll take Agent 47. Will he be all roughed up and old like Solid Snake or Sam Fisher trying to repent his ways and retire from the life but can't, or are they jumping on the physics bandwagon like everyone else, redesigning the game as a whole to make it look better and what not? We'll soon find out I guess.

Hiitman is quite watchable popcorn fare.  No wonder it made the bucks.  The complaints we have would be moot if they had just made Timmy "Agent 27" to match his looks. :)  He's not 47 in character, and if you can ignore that it ignores the source material, it's fine.  Calm down.

I wish this were news about the next and frankly overdue Hitman game myself, not another movie.

Any reason to see Timomthy Olyphant. Yeah, it might be a horrible movie, they need a reasonable plot. OK, thats asking too much.

Why don't they just cast David Bateson for the role of Agent 47?. He is the guy who the Hitman character was modeled after and he also voiced 47 in every hitman game. 

Only thing I remember from the games was wearing dead guy clothes and a virtual penis.

I really like Timothy Olyphant, but they need to get someone else for the part. He's too young looking, and 47 always looked more hard edged and older.

As long as they cast a better 47, I'll go see it.

It's  a pretty good movie. Not particularly accurate to Hitman games, but a good movie nonetheless.

They are doing it in spite of you and your TANG review and your feelings Ryan, I bet the producers are like "Well, RYAN Davis, we will see how you like a sequel!!! to Hit Man, and for the final blow, we will also secure a sequel to Dragonball The Movie!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Take that RYAN Davis!"

The only good that's gonna come out of this is a TANG Hitman 2 review.

I liked Hitman.  I'd watch a sequel.  Probably wouldn't play the game though.  Just seems boring.

I saw the first one in theaters and wish I hadn't.  The fact that I gave them money to fund a second one makes me sick.  OK, as an action movie it's probably a C at best, but as someone who enjoys the lore of the games it's total garbage.  The story was junk, however I didn't think Timothy Olyphant was a terrible 47, just bad direction. 

Anyway if this movie turns out to be a reboot of the franchise (Which seems hilarious cause there was only 1 movie so far) i'm all for it.

If it's just FOX trying to make another cheap film to get our hard earned dollars, then fuck off.  Someone should put a contract out on those fat cat exces if thats the case.
