Hitman

Franchise »

The Hitman games are a series of stealth action games, in which players are encouraged to use stealth and disguises instead of raw firepower (not that this isn't an option) to complete a level.

Square Enix Montreal to develop next Hitman game

It looks like after Absolution IO is handing the franchise over to a new developer.

Overall I feel pretty optimistic about this. IO Interactive has had a good history with the franchise but I am interested in what possible directions a new developer might take the series. This will be the first game developed by Square Enix Montreal, but game director, Karsten Lund, has worked on the previous Hitman games, which makes me feel like this franchise is in the right hands.

I know this is old news but I just found out about it.

I don't think Square Enix Montréal and Eidos Montréal are the same studio.

I dug another link down from the first article to discover that Square Enix Montreal is not Eidos Montreal. If this article is still correct, the team running the new Hitman will not be the same as the one that gave us Human Revolution.

if IO gives up Hitman then I feel they've fucked up because it's their original IP and what birthed that company. I love my Hitman.

What is up with all the Montreal studios popping up, seems like it would be incredibly hard to get people to move there.

@Kidavenger: Nah, Montreal is really close to NY actually, as far as Canada goes. Also, lots of developers leaving Vancouver now.
