    Homefront

Game » consists of 12 releases. Released Mar 15, 2011

By the year 2027, the North Koreans have managed to unify Korea, annex Japan, and also invade the western half of the United States. As an American rebel fighter, it is the player's duty to help push the NPA out of the United States and end the citizens' suffering.

I have a import bussines and sometimes I would get early copies.. I rarely play them before time or even writte about it.... Im doing it this time because Homefront look promising all the studio talk about half life, story telling and whatnot

Saddly this game it´s a huge disapointing for me, I just gonna lay down my reasons:

    - Graphics.. I don´t consider myself a graphic whore.. but man ther´s better looking games in the ps2 than this game, Looks like a heavy watered down source 2 engine WTF were they thinking?
    - Story: the setting it´s cool but the whole drama .. they just fking trying to much it is a patriotic cheesys fest
    - Feel: this is perhaps my biggest complain you dont "walk" or "run" you fking FLOAT like if I was playing doom 2 all over again.. the weapons have mediocre sound and look plus all they feel the same because of the lame recoil
     -characters: clicheeeee
-Animation: it´s hard to get any sense of inmersion whit characters that move like if they were made of paper.. the polygon count seems to be pretty low for today standards.

Ther´s a lot of little deatails that makes this game fell short from a good modern FPS, I won´t go into it because my english proficiency won´t allow me..  Im sure some people will find it "good" but for me it made the p.o.s Medal Honor look like game of the year.

Homefront looks really bad. I was super surprised that it's THQ's most pre-ordered game. The power of trends I suppose.

For those of you who don't want to just take his word for it I saw a video on justin.tv of a guy playing multi-player and it looks boring and very dated.  I could definately see this as a first generation game on the xbox360 or PS3 but this just doesn't hold up well at all compared to more recent first person shooters.  The UI is especially bad.

I can't say I ever had high expectations for this game.  I was always a bit surprised when I saw people getting really hyped for it.  Oh well, more money in my pocket.

THQ blew a ton of cash to promote this game so it might sell well at first, but that won't last.

I was going to buy a copy of it so I could write a review for it on The Gaming Vault.

Now I think I might just get Dragon Age 2 for myself instead.

I haven't played it but it at least looks like a average COD knock off and hit indicators in single player are a little much. Thats sort of my issue with what I have seen its seems to be trying to be like COD but just not quite.

I doubt that there was a "massive" boost of pre-orders because of TF2 items. You overestimate people's love of items.

I was never impressed with the gameplay footage and the story is just BS.  They are going for shock value to do the marketing for them.  I hope it bombs badly.

It's getting very good review scores on MC.  All in the mid-80s to mid-90s range so far.  Pretty surprising, but I think I'll wait for some reviews from places I've heard of.

There is definitely an embargo because there isn't one respectable site with a review up of Homefront.  As Jimbo said as long as it's a good early review I'm sure they don't care.

No there aren't. Fuck I hate when people spew this hyperbolic rubbish. An example:

Here's Final Fantasy XII, one of the best looking PS2 games:

    Here's Homefront:

"OMG FINAL FANTASY WAS SHIT!", you say? "GOD OF WAR 2 WAS BEST LOL", you say?:

Homefront may not be the best looking game, but it is nowhere near as bad as a PS2 game.

I don't understand where all these people come from saying this game looks bad. The MP looks amazing, and the campaign is trying to do something fresh. And graphically (what is shows in the trailers) looks on par with COD.

That image you are showing is a cinematic.  Show me a gameplay screenshot that is at least equal to FFXII.

Edit: I do realize that is gameplay cinematic but it still isn't even close to what the multiplayer shows.  Also, the problem isn't so much the graphical capabilities but the horrible user interface.

On Steam you get Metro 2033 for free when you pre-purchase Homefront

To me, it was like I bought Metro 2033 for the original full price it used to be and got Homefront for free.

For a free game, I'm happy with it.

I ran through it in almost FIVE hours. So.. nothing!

    Otherwise:
If you stand behind a thick concrete wall, the f*n AI can hit you with a lame MP.
If the AI knees behind a thin wooden cover, you can't hit 'em.   >__>

That game didn't look all that great to me when I first saw it.

That game is getting all the hype because they decry that their story is frighteningly possible which is absolutely ridiculous.

    @FluxWaveZ: I played till Rank 5.
With vehicles you can left the "DANGER ZONE", and shoot people from the distance, but on foot you can't leave the zone, or you 'll die after 5 seconds. I don't get the sense of this! So you can shoot people which can't even fight back.
    In conclusion: I'm disappointed!

I don't think people think the story is possible, they just think it's interesting to see the developer's take on an interesting "what if" scenario.

I would love to agree with you but the Multiplayer in Homefront is really nothing speical despite trying to imitate and combine both the leveling up system in CoD and the wide scale vehicle mayhem of BF, it doesn't work well and it's simply a poor way of designing the MP.

@Khann:  aaa you know yea I kinda put it to harsh.. It doesnt look like a PS2 game, but it certainly looks uggly and it doesn´t compensate with the "artstyle" like other games ... also ther´s older games that look way better.

From what I have seen of homefront (like, one ad and maybe a trailer) it looks like some kind of modern military shooter. I have played that game already.

But this time it's a modern military shooter crossed with the 1980s movie Red Dawn!  Surely this is the cultural touchstone of our times.

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing Review: 12/10

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is a phenomenal racer. Instead of worrying about crashing into other cars or structures, you GO THROUGH THEM! Furthermore, fuck actual driving skill. In Big Rigs, you can win a race by driving backwords! Did I forget to mention that you will always win because the AI racer will never move from the start position?

If you want an accessible racing game that doesn't shit on you with useless stuff like "physics" and "realism" like Forza does, then buy Big Rigs: Over the Road racing today! Also, since you never lose, it promotes euphoric feelings and cures AIDS! GET THIS GAME NOW!!!!!!!

@Laketown: A Review is still a Review, I'm sorry i like to get some thoughts of some other people's opinions on one game rather then 1 or 2 "Big names"

Uhh sorry pal, but most people rely on reviewers with similar tastes to themselves to judge a game. I never go to IGN, because their reviewers are idiots. I also don't read Xbox magazine because they get paid to give good scores. A Giantbomb review is worth more then any random review posted on metacritic, because I know the tastes/reliability of the reviewer.

I never got the hate for IGN... it seems they gave some games 10/10 and the butthurt just exploded.

On topic: I, just a few days a ago, learned that this game was a FPS, so shows how much I know.

A Giantbomb quicklook is worth more than a Giantbomb review.

A review is simply one person's opinion about a game. A video showing raw gameplay (with commentary) is something else entirely.
