Homefront, far from a homerun
Homefront sets up a cool story but falls short with it's delivery .When i look at it i think “Oh cool red dawn the video game” but soon after starting the game i was filled with great disappointment.
Homefront is a 4 hour run in the mill sluggish shooter. In the single player your spend your time building up to what turns out to be one of the most anticlimactic endings in a game. It seems like every mission is more or less the same. The game at times tries to relay on shock value at points in the mission with big explosions and slow motion like Modern Warfare 2 and Black opps but fall short most of the time. To me it seems like the developer Kaos Studios played those few levels in MW2 when you were fighting in America and said “let make a game out of this” not saying that's a bad idea but when designed poorly with little execution it turns out bad. This game has some weird design issues for example, when you go into a new area you always walk over this pushed over fence that you cant go back over. That may seem small but it really took me out of the game when i saw them at the end of every area.
After beating the lack luster single player i gave the multiplayer a try. I got into my first match and picked my class and i played a few rounds. When i was playing it i could not stop thinking “if I'm going to play this why don't i just go play Black Ops” It just seems like Kaos is trying to make the multiplayer that is a mix of CoD and Battlefield but it falls short on both of those beats. I can't even recommend renting it just for multiplayer cause it caps you at level 5 if you don't have an online pass.
The only few good things Homefront has going for it is the set pieces look great. When you are setting on the bus in the beginning of the game it does a good job of showing how messed up things are not the Korea has taken over. Some of the shock that Homefront uses the surprise the player works. for example in the first mission after it shows the KMP messing a few people up the guy in front of you turns around and starts talking to you and mid conversation the bus get blow up and over turned. The sad part is shortly after that you seem Homefronts weak point. shootin dudes. Homefront is the kind of game that looks great from the outside but once you get into it you quickly find that its all a trick. Homefront far from a homerun
