Solid, but short game
From playing Homefront I find myself thinking about how much more interesting it could have been. I actually enjoyed the campaign quite a bit (even despite its short length), but somehow having what I can remember as 100% identical controls and shooting mechanics to Call of Duty makes it feel like more of a copy cat then something unique (fair or unfair).
- It's a small note, but the controller vibration was done very well in this game, and weapons somehow feel like they have some good weight behind them when shooting, you'll probably notice this almost immediately upon firing the pistol early on in the game.
- Really well put together FMV cutscenes are ruined by a giant SKIP button prompt.
- There's some good unique semi-stealth, sniping, and robot controlling sections in the game that I thought were very well done and to me were the biggest bright spots of the game.
- They do a good job creating a convincing world, that kind of feels have way between war torn and post apocalyptic, they have some grim non action sequences that set this up nicely.
- I suppose I'd recommend this to any shooter fan getting bored over the summer that wants something they can beat in a single weekend.
