Horse Armour was made famous by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, in which Horse Armour was paid DLC, costing 200 Microsoft points, or $2.50. The DLC received widespread criticism for offering no enhancement to gameplay, but only serving as a cosmetic improvement. For this reason, and the fact that it was released in the early days of DLC content, the term 'horse armor' has popularly become synonymous with DLC that is not worth the price charged.
