Shop Music?

#1 Posted by EthanielRain (757 posts) -

I see that Giant Bomb's "into" list has changed and includes "the shop music from Hot Rod". I'd like to hear it, if anyone has it or can find it online ^_^

They probably mean the music from the SEGA Arcade version, but here's the shop music from the Commodore 64 port (embedding wouldn't keep the time code, it starts at 1:20): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIXzAOcNCyo&t=1m20s

It's also near the start of this Amiga longplay video (0:35):

That is one sexy track.

@ahgunsillyo: Well, personally I found the actual racing music in both the C64 and Amiga versions to be better (listen to the sick filters at the start of the racing music on the C64, and I love that hard snare drum thing in the Amiga version), but, sure, the Shop music is great too.

Ha ha. I tried to this exact thing and look up the shop music when I saw it at the top of the page. Only, this topic has made it a whole lot easier to find. It's a nice tune, for sure.

For the record, that's a sort of weak version of the shop music. The arcade version is WAY HOTTER!

I assumed you meant the arcade version, couldn't find any recordings of it on youtube though.

Oh shit, that looks so much better than the home computer ports! But the arcade version uses FM synthesis like the Genesis and Adlib - of course it's better than anything else (except maybe the C64's wonderful filters).

Well that's a surprise -I know this music from the Sega Game Gear / Nomad release of "G-Loc Air Battle".

Damn, I completely forgot about this game - I played the hell out of it on my game gear. Thanks for the reminder

Yeah i thought it was that one too, but then i remembered that game was called Street Rod 2 (or 1), a game which also has awesome music.

I actually think think the Amiga version sounded better than the arcade, better bass.

Oh no what am I doing disagreeing with Jeff I'm gonna die!

Yep, I'm all about the Amiga version. Just sounds THICK. Though the arcade version would be my second choice.

It makes you wonder if the shop music was inspired by Yaz's Situation.
