An adventure game is a hard thing to pull off. You need to have, above all, a good plot with deeply layered characters, along with clever puzzles and items. Hotel Dusk: Room 215 ticks all the right boxes, although you might encounter a few minor niggles along the way.You play as a former police officer Kyle Hyde, who was let go due to an incident involving his partner, Brian Bradley. At the start of the game you watch a movie showing Hyde sitting in his office and receiving a call about Bradley....

An Overlooked Gem 0
Let's be clear here: Hotel Dusk is not for everyone. I don't want to make a statement like, "You must play this game! It will change your life!" That's a straight up lie that could piss someone off when they play it and their life remains unchanged. That said, it is well worth trying. I think it was an under-marketed game that passed under a lot of people's radar, and that's a crying shame. Soundtrack/Voice Acting As you know, there are very few games on the DS that have voice acting. To be honest, I think that's a good thing. The last thing you need is some dodgy voice acting to ruin a game. As for the soundtrack, it really keeps in time with the gameplay. Hotel Dusk is an adventure game very much from the Japanese "visual novel" tradition rather than the American "point-and-click" tradition. It has a very engaging story-line and well-developed characters. Unfortunately, I thought most of the puzzles were poorly conceived, and wandering through the halls of the hotel in the 3D navigation sections was tiring.
