A pretty simple question! Which is your favorite song in Hotline Miami? If the soundcloud embed works, then I'll drop it in below.

Id say Paris or Hydrogen, then Deep cover.

Are we still harping on about this soundtrack? There were some good tracks, but, it's not exactly that amazing...

I don't want to be the guy that goes into a thread and starts talking about an unrelated game, but Dustforce's soundtrack is ultra-underrated D: Jus' sayin'

Miami Disco.

#10 Posted by Little_Socrates (5649 posts) -

@BeachThunder: To be completely honest, it's not my favorite soundtrack of 2012. But it's one of the most evenly-spread soundtracks in 2012, enough so that I feel like there are multiple options for this poll. (Though I'm totally with you that it's Hydrogen.)

I liked Dustforce's soundtrack well enough, but I still preferred Spelunky, Fez, Journey, and Rhythm Heaven Fever to both of those soundtracks, and I preferred FTL, Skullgirls, and P4A as well. Was a damn great year for soundtracks.

How is this even a fair choice, Hyrdogen obviously.

Crystals or miami disco. Arg, you monster how can you ask me to choose!!!

#13 Posted by plop1920 (446 posts) -

I really like Hotline

#14 Posted by Indiana_Jenkins (375 posts) -

You guys are all crazy.

Hydrogen is not even the best M.O.O.N. track, which is Crystals by the way.

All facets of Hotline Miami boil down to one song.

Miami Disco is Hotline Miami, and to borrow a popular phrase, it's hell of tight.

Hydrogen like.... by far. That bass line is simply amazing.

#17 Posted by Little_Socrates (5649 posts) -

@Indiana_Jenkins: Miami Disco is really great, listening again. I think my runners-up are probably still Silver Lights and Daisuke, though. Silver Lights throws dark.

#18 Posted by Freshbandito (611 posts) -

The M.O.O.N. stuff is just so good, how can you ask me to name just one? sophie's choice here.

#19 Posted by GilbertMordinAndSullivan (442 posts) -

Other songs may be better and more complicated, but God DAMMIT when Hydrogen kicks in it works with the psychotic gameplay like no other.

Breta breta breta breata breata BREEEEP Breta breta breta breta breta BREEEP Breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Crystals, with Hydrogen and Silver Light as a close second. Hydrogen has that great bass line and Silver Light just sounds so damn nasty that it makes my skin crawl. Crystals though has that nice mellow build-up that you just kind of go cross-eyed and start smashing in faces in a weird zen-like trance.

@BeachThunder: Dustforce is one of the only 3 video game soundtracks I listen to outside the game consistently, with the other two being Shank and Hotline Miami. Great one to just sit back and relax to, also incredibly underrated game.

#21 Posted by Animasta (14460 posts) -

the best MOON track is Paris guys don't be crazy

my third runner up is also probably silver lights or maybe miami disco or possibly flatline?

#22 Posted by Hitchenson (4682 posts) -

I'm in a Miami Disco.

#23 Posted by JaredA (806 posts) -

Hydrogen is the best music to murder to

#24 Posted by hidys (1028 posts) -

Shit I clicked the wrong Perturbator song I ment to click Miami Disco.

#25 Posted by adam1808 (1214 posts) -

I started with Hyrdogen but then Miami Disco caught my eye.

Crystals is the best song and is also the most featured song, all of the Moon stuff is great though there's some decent random tracks as well ("Last" level music for example)

I think the issue is that a lot of people got turned off by Dustforce's absurd difficulty well before hearing all of its superb soundtrack. The fact that you have to mash the dash button like crazy (even for things as simple as falling) instead of there being a simple Mario/Super Meat Boy run button made that game feel like a chore to play for me. I came away really liking the serenity of Dustforce's graphics and music, while being very frustrated by its controls. If it were a completely different game closer to something like Braid or Limbo, I probably would've liked it a lot more.

Silver Lights is so fitting for this game. It's intense and moody, awesome but horrible, dirty yet enjoyable. As it is one of the first songs you hear, it left quite an impression on me.

#29 Edited by Ramone (2931 posts) -

I went with the obvious choice and picked Hydrogen, I do like Silver Lights but I wish that bass line was on a different, more up tempo song.

EDIT: I forgot that Inner Animal is sick as fuck.

Hmm, I don't think it would have the same impact. I think as it is, it's good that it stands out on the soundtrack. A lot of the other songs are brilliant and make you feel psychotic in a, I am awesome and I can do this, sort of way. Silver Lights makes you feel psychotic but you feel like a real piece of shit while listening to it, really makes you feel like a serial killer. I can understand why that might not appeal to everyone!

DIGADIGADIGADIGADIGAWEOAH

Yup. Hydrogen.

You all have terrible taste! Best song is obviously "Miami", followed by "Silver Lights".

#33 Posted by SlashDance (1757 posts) -

Miami. Because I love driving to that song.

I think it pales in comparison to Nightcall, which it is clearly taking inspiration from.

It's a great song, I just hear that bassline and think it's the beginning of a Hydrogen-esque song or a Wu-Tang track.

#36 Posted by Vexxan (4598 posts) -

Hydrogen wins but Miami ain't far behind.

#37 Posted by Hugh_Jazz (327 posts) -

Motherfucking Daisuke. That song has been my wake-up tune ever since I got it.

#38 Posted by EarlessShrimp (1581 posts) -

that's just plain easy duder, it's Hydrogen. That song gets my feet tappin' no matter where it pops up. Plus, never been too huge a fan of house, but this is the kinda shit I can get behind.

#39 Posted by david3cm (635 posts) -

Daisuke

#40 Posted by TheCreamFilling (1220 posts) -

I really like Flatline, nice and mellow.

#41 Posted by zudthespud (3276 posts) -

It's got to be Deep Cover.

#42 Posted by Ravenlight (8033 posts) -

It's a real Sophie's Choice but I like Daisuke because it's a nice chill break from the rest of the soundtrack.

#43 Posted by ProfessorEss (7123 posts) -

Tough pick between Hydrogen and Deep Cover but Deep Cover takes it on account of wetness.

#44 Posted by AlexanderSheen (4661 posts) -

Revengeance!

#45 Posted by GeekDown (1170 posts) -

I can't make up my mind so I'm just not gonna vote.

#46 Posted by sionweeks (625 posts) -

I accidentally didn't click Deep Cover, which is so tilting.

Daisuke

I was beginning to wonder if people even realized there were other songs on the soundtrack that wern't by M.O.O.N. "Daisuke" is by far my favorite track. "Knock Knock" is a close runner up though.

To be fair though, when I think about the game as a whole, my mind always goes to "Hydrogen."

#49 Posted by RazielCuts (2711 posts) -

'Hydrogen' is great and all at first blush but it goes nowhere. Now 'Miami' is sensual.

#50 Posted by Thompson820 (409 posts) -

I had to vote for Hydrogen because it's THE song to my mind, Daisuke would be a really close second though.
