    According to greek mythology, Hydra was a many-headed serpent; the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. For each head that got cut off, two new heads would grow in its place. It was eventually slain by Hercules.

    Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

    In Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, Mother Hydra is actually a Deep One that has grown to immense size. She is one of the two being worshiped by the Esoteric Order of Dagon in the game, and can also be considered the game's final boss. Jack Walters defeats her by gaining control of her minions and shooting her water filled lair with a lightning gun.
