Overview
I Can't Escape: Darkness is a first person atmospheric horror adventure game developed and published by Fancy Fish Games. It is the "spiritual successor" of I Can't Escape, a free to play flash game released in 2013. The game is set in a similar underground labyrinth, however the sequel includes several new features and the core of the gameplay centers around light and darkness.
The game is set to release September 17th, 2015 for PC, Mac and Linux.
Gameplay
I Can't Escape: Darkness plays from a first-person perspective, with movement locked to a grid reminiscent of old-school dungeon crawlers. It has been confirmed that the gameplay focuses on exploration, but there is also combat and puzzles.
The main gameplay mechanic is said to focus on light and darkness, and while it is unclear exactly what this means, the game's about contains a hint:
Defend yourself from the Darkness with whatever light you can find; once your light burns out, the Darkness will consume you.
The game also features twitter integration, where you can tweet a short string upon your death. IGN posted an example tweet:
After taking 18 steps and collecting 0 keys in 01m 18s, I was poisoned to death by a damn rat.
Story
The story of I Can't Escape: Darkess comes from three sources in game - a disembodied voice in your head, letters written by a deceased group of previous explorers, and carvings on the walls.
