Each level was called a tower in the game due to the layout of the level mostly being a series of the rings that the player had to climb. This is mainly carried out through the use of a grapple hook which was normally the character's tongue. This grapple was used to hook onto the platform above your character so that you were able to pull yourself up onto it. The grapple could also be utilised to lower yourself down to avoid projectiles as well as hooking onto other players to slow them down by stunning them momentarily or throwing them off the course. As well the the grapple, players were able to flap which allowed them to hover over a gap for a short distance or use a turbo mode that would send them rolling at great speeds similar to the sonic games.

Take control of a talking wrecking ball as you race and battle your opponents to the top of the tower.
IIggy's Reckin' Balls is a game published by the now defunct Acclaim Entertainment and was exclusively for the Nintendo 64. The games eight starting characters are all balls with varying faces and personalities who have to use their abilities to climb to the top of each of the games towers first. While all the characters were the same in terms of their abilities the game box boasts that all eight characters had different personalities. These seemed to have no impact in the game other than cosmetic as there was no narrative in the game at all. As well as the normal mode which involved racing against three other computer or player controlled opponents the game had some other modes thrown in as well such as time trial and battle mode. Each level was called a tower in the game due to the layout of the level mostly being a series of the rings that the player had to climb.
