How does he take a shower?  How come he was able to drink that beer with Zeke?!

These are the important questions.

He doesn't shower.

Boom.

I think it is more a problem of being Surrounded by water, a little bit is ok.

And yea Cole just doesn't DO showers anymore.

#4 Posted by Kyreo (4602 posts) -

Yeah I was wondering that myself. I imagine he can put up with SOME water, but he just can't handle being submerged in it.

#5 Posted by N7 (3677 posts) -

He is the shower.

#6 Posted by Nekroskop (2786 posts) -

His electricity evaporates sweat and burns off dead skin?

The beer-part is kinda tricky though

And why don't enemies just use garden hoses and super soakers?!

As an example: you could easily stand in a puddle without getting hurt in the first game.

Woah.

Perhaps he grounds himself to the shower head. Gotta keep in mind, he like all of us are mostly water anyways. Remember what those aliens referred to us in Star Trek, 'filthy bags of water'?

These are the questions.

WW2 style flamethrowers, except they spray water.  Like power washers strapped to their backs.

That is true.

They should use as Cole's Kryptonite. They'll probably just keep it as a way not to leave the map though. I don't expect creative thinking from developers anymore.

Man. Infamous 3 could totally take an Ernest Scared Stupid approach. How amazing would that be? It could at least make fun some funny DLC.

I haven't played the game but can he still use his electricity powers when he gains the ice powers? Because ice is still water just in another state, so wouldn't that harm him as well?

#21 Edited by RE_Player1 (7526 posts) -

Didn't they say in the first game he sponge bathes because that doesn't hurt him and his girlfirend, Trsih, suggested it because she's a nurse?

#22 Posted by Hockeymask27 (3683 posts) -

Wears rubber boots and gloves?

#23 Posted by Crash_Happy (737 posts) -

Actually the whole water problem is why I found the second section annoying. Hadn't though about the shower problem.

I guess though for part 3 enemies hijacking fire engines to try and take you down could work pretty well. Those things have some reach.

#24 Posted by dudeglove (8297 posts) -

Isn't there a quip at the start of the first game where he talks about not showering?

#25 Posted by Getz (3155 posts) -

@Butler: ice isn't a conductor until it melts. Of course, super high energy electricity would melt ice normally but this is a video-game after all.

#26 Posted by Butler (392 posts) -
@Getz: I did not know that. Thanks!

Well I happen to enjoy discussing theoretical physics in relation to fictional settings.
#27 Posted by Mayu_Zane (621 posts) -

Last I heard Cole's okay with small amounts of water. He takes sponge baths and drinks in small sips.

#28 Posted by 1momosauky (214 posts) -

the developers did not see the use of putting in swimming mechanics BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

#29 Posted by Hansolol (488 posts) -

He constantly keeps a field of electricity around him to avoid incoming damage from enemy projectiles. That's why he can take a few bullets without dying. When he goes to take a shower or drink a beverage he turns it off.

#30 Posted by Thrillhouse87 (247 posts) -

why does he take damage from water in the first place? we all know water + electricity is bad, but that is because electricity is bad. this guy absorbs electricity to HEAL himself.

This'd probably end badly for whoever did it, like pissing on a power line.

Isn't it because he basically short circuits himself? I'm honestly not sure at all.

It's the same as if you drop a toaster into a bathtub, that toaster isn't going to work so well. For all questions treat Cole as a toaster.

I still don't quite get why it hurts him. Water conducts electricity, which he's immune to anyway.

#39 Posted by EuanDewar (5098 posts) -

He showers in electricity.

Also pure water, with absolutely nothing added is not a conductor either. So maybe the ice is absolutely pure? Who knows.

and maybe, just maybe...it was a way to keep you from escaping the game boundaries.... =[

He fries the dirt off of himself with electricity. You can walk in puddles and be ok, it's just like falling into a larger pool of water or the ocean is when you have problems.

#44 Posted by Cataphract1014 (1312 posts) -

I just thought of this.

What about the water hurts him?  He conducts electricity with his body, so you mean to tell me that the water conducting electricity hurts a guy that can control electricity?  In the first game he literally closed a circuit with his body.

#45 Posted by JoelTGM (5596 posts) -

I don't see why water hurts him anyway.  If his powers were all about fire, then ok I'd get it, but why would water hurt electricity?  It just spreads it easier.

#46 Posted by Yanngc33 (4461 posts) -

This question has already been asked before and I have the perfect answer: he gets a bubble bath thanks to giant fans.

#47 Posted by Donos (1197 posts) -

The beast is on fire. It's waist deep in water. Where's the steam?

#48 Posted by Vertrucio (149 posts) -

Dry ice is frozen CO2. Plenty of things can freeze into ice besides water.

#49 Posted by YoungFrey (1321 posts) -

Some things.  I assume the fiction here is that when Cole is in water his electricity is conducted away from him because water is an excellent conductor.  You could extrapolate that the reason it kills him is because it goes beyond what he expends as ammo since he'd never voluntarily kill himself by shooting.  Of course the problem with this is that in reality a similar effect would occur when he grabbed any metal object embedding in the earth.

When people use the word "grounded" they are usually completely wrong.  Being grounded means having a path for electricity to flow though.  It's called that because ground wires do usually connect to the earth since it can take up any amount of excess charge.   You want to be insulated to be protected from electric current.

Pure water actually conducts very poorly, but most water isn't pure.

While I'm talking about it.  People in cars are not safe from lightning because of the tires.  If lightning can jump through a mile of air, why the hell would it care about your car being 12" off the ground.  They are protected because they are entirely inside a metal cage.  It's complicated, but that keeps out electricity.

I think the more important question is... How can he have ice powers?
