Similar gameplay. SImilar production value. They both had early access to betas.
I just feel like this, along with Crackdown, is just a segway into a Triple A title later in the year. Just something to fill in the gap. I understand that it is a good game, but I also thought Crackdown was an awesome game! Thoughts?
inFamous 2
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jun 07, 2011
The electric superhuman, Cole MacGrath, returns in the sequel to 2009's open world superhero third-person action game from Sucker Punch, featuring new graphics, a new city, and new powers.
Is this Sony's version of Crackdown?
I think the Infamous games play much better than the Crackdown games. I had problems with Crackdown's auto-aiming locking on to enemies that were way off in the distance instead of the enemies that were in front of me. Traversing the world in Infamous does not feel tedious like in Crackdown. The story in Infamous is marginal but it is way better than Crackdown's story.
More like Craptown... I'll go.

It definitely is pretty tedious in Crackdown. NSFW language.Traversing the world in Infamous does not feel tedious like in Crackdown.
Well they are similar in a way but I would take inFAMOUS any day. And if you love orb hunting there are shards.. Also start on the first one its great too.
Hey, I quite enjoyed the first Crackdown and it was my most favorite game of 2007. The sequel was a massive disappointment though and not worth any expense. I like the explosive playground that the original Crackdown created. It was closer to a Saint's Row or GTA than InFamous in my opinion.

Yes, but it's also better than Crackdown so there you go.

This is the correct opinion. Crackdown 1 was and still is fucking awesome; Crackdown 2 was Undead Nightmare at six times the cost.
There are two good things about Crackdown. How the cars exploded, and finding all the orbs. Everything else was shit. Finding dead drops and collecting blast shards in inFamous is way more satisfying, and it actually has a decent story to go with it.

But Crackdown 2 sucked ass. On the other hand Infamous 2 improves on every part of it's predecessor. Also I would certainly call it a AAA franchise and probably one of Sony's top 5 exclusive franchises.

Clever...
@PrivateIronTFU: Dude, come on, the story in inFAMOUS is so fucking bad. Not only is every character in the game insufferable (Zeke is a bag of dicks, Trish is the most unsympathetic, self-entitled bitch on the planet), but the ending. Holy shit, the fucking ending and its retarded time paradox of a twist. So Cole has the power to go back in time and be Kessler so he can murder a bunch of people to give himself superpowers and kill his own girlfriend to teach him some important life lesson or whatever, but wait, how did Cole get those powers in the first place when it involves HIM GOING BACK IN TIME SO HE CAN GIVE HIMSELF SAID POWERS? Give me a fucking break.
Infamous is a perfect example of a game being great in spite of its horrid presentation. At least Crackdown had the decency to not shove its threadbare, senseless story down your throat every chance it got.
Man, how can you go ahead and bitch about Infamous' story....@PrivateIronTFU: Dude, come on, the story in inFAMOUS is so fucking bad. Not only is every character in the game insufferable (Zeke is a bag of dicks, Trish is the most unsympathetic, self-entitled bitch on the planet), but the ending.
.....Without bringing up the retarded "moral choices"! I find them acceptable because its a neat way of splitting up the powers Cole gets ,but man these games are really dumb storywise.
No gray. You are either a psychopathic lunatic or fucking jesus christ(seriously your like healing people by defibrillating them or some shit)
@mutha3: Yeah, the morality system is totally one of those "lesser of two evils" things. Like, it's complete garbage and almost every single choice is the most eye-roll-inducing thing ever, but it's stomachable for being in service to the power divergence, which is legitimately cool and well done. Infamous and subtlety aren't really two things that go together very well, though.

Infamous was amazing.
i liked crackdown 1, i bought it because i thought it would be different, but mostly because coming off halo 2 i just wanted to play halo 3 (beta). but was pleasantly surprised with how much i actually played the game while enjoying it.
crackdown 2 on the other hand, i've never played and from what i heard was about as great as shit flavored toothpaste.
lolsubtletyinvideogames
I especially like the whole incredibly convoluted, completely improbable masterplan of the villain that relies on at least 20 different circumstantial events to happen at the same time.
He could just, you know, tell him.
"yo, younger me, a huge megapowerful monster-demon is going to come wreck your shit, when it does, plz don't be a pussy. also let me train you. also absorb the ray sphere for super powers. kthxbai"
