Sony Dropping Mad Details On Sucker Punch's InFamous

I only own a PS3 and I really don't give a crap about inFAMOUS...like at all. I haven't looked at a single screenshot or video besides that cover art. I'm replaying GTA IV and having a blast doing it, even without the DLC. Hell, my gaming habits usually include buying games I should have played but never did...I just picked up God of War I/II and have been playing through those on my PS2. I guess I'm in the minority.
im looking forward to it. looks like a great way to kill off a weekend with a buddy.
Im also excited for one other selfish reason though: Sucker Punch has said that once InFAMOUS was done, they'd mostly likely return to Sly Cooper :D
This reminds me of the Psi-Ops / Second Sight fiasco from several years ago. Two games that shared many similarities and mechanics, but caused confusion in the consumer base and ended up making both games sell poorly. After it was all over, both games were quite good, and offered up enough differences to make each a pretty good game but only the bargain bin gamers benefited.
This and Prototype seem like very similar games, have the same kind of style, and both are made by competent developers. But it looks like once again the consumer is confused as to which one is which and i nthe end both will hurt each others' sales. The best thing they can do is make their respective game as good as it can be and try to release them as far apart as possible. Infamous made a good choice in changing up how the character looks, before they both had the hoodie and skulked around in the shadows, now there is at least some way to tell the mapart at first glance.
Getting back to Psi-Ops, Midway should totally make another, it was pretty damn good game that could do well with some new graphics.
Zapping people with lightning might get repetitive, but I'll certainly check it out. Here's hoping they go back to Sly Cooper with their next game, my pants are abulge with thoughts of how great that game would look on PS3 hardware. And yes, abulge is a real word, I just created it today.
I'm looking forward to it, but I'm afraid that it might get overlooked. Like with a lot of games, I think that the $60 price will likely kill it as many people with limited funds will buy other games. If it were at a lesser price, they would sell tremendously more of them. Not to sound cheap or anything...
i need to play this game to really see how this game is. from the look of it, it seems kinda fun, but might be too repetitive. idk, im just gonna wait till the demo comes out and see....
seems to have really mixed opinions..
the game looks really good (also its made by sucker punch which made the awesome series sly cooper :P ) but i wish the boxart was better........
It's hard to say whether prototype or infamous will be better but I'm going to say infamous solely based on Sucker Punch's reputation.
those boss-chick gameplay clips for this game on Gametrailers killed it for me. it showed how cheesy the dialogue really is and how basic and cliche the gameplay is.
i think its obvious that since this comes from a developer with an excellent history of platformers that this game will be fun and also be more fun than prototype.
"This reminds me of the Psi-Ops / Second Sight fiasco from several years ago. Two games that shared many similarities and mechanics, but caused confusion in the consumer base and ended up making both games sell poorly."
Those 2 games sold poorly because they were Psi-Ops and Second Sight. Prototype and inFamous have a little bit more marketing muscle and name recognition to get them by than those 2 games.
don't know about this game, it seems very boring from the videos that I've seen, we'll see if the demo can prove me wrong
The game was originally described to me as "It's like Grand Theft Auto, but you have superstrength and can fly." That sounded awesome. Turns out the game is really about a guy who has nothing but electricity-based powers. Now that's cool and all, but still not as cool as Superman GTA. I'm still not sure whether I'm going to get this game or not.
I went back and played some Sly2 a while ago and I gotta say that the quality of that game gives me high hopes for this one. Still, I'm not a fan of open world games so it's reassuring that there will be a demo out before it's release.
I was counting how many responses there would be before "Prototype" was mentioned. It was mentioned in the first.
I don't know. InFamous looks more like a shooter, in principle, while Prototype is more in line with brawlers. I'm more intrigued by Prototype right now, but that could change. It's all so far away, I'm not going to worry about it. Hell, by then Champions Online maybe out and all my superhero needs will be satisfied until Crackdown 2.
I'll be interested to see how the game is recieved. Right now, I'm fairly optimistic and will peobably get the game when it comes out.
I believe this and Prototype will both play out as follows: 8-12 hours of game play, great graphics, one will have a better storyline than the other(but not as good as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed) and no multiplayer. So in a nutshell, great rental material for the game that has the better story.
This is probably on everyone's "wait and see" list for 09. It looks like it'll be fine but it may not be the type of game people are looking for nowadays. Either way, I'm interested. It has a great developer behind it and they seem to care about the story and the characters more than just the action, a rarity today in video games.
