@Totalbiscuit

"Spoilers, War Z is terrible, 40 minutes of me telling you so will be up tomorrow"

Oh dear, now they've released the game too early people like total biscuit and myself and many, many more that will hold out on dissing a game until it is released are going to take a huge collective crap on this game even though it still has a long way to go.

I will still be playing and enjoying all the future updates but I think they devs have screwed themselves over on this one.

its sad that this pretty good game will die because of one e-celebrity

BUT I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE OFFICIAL FORUMS TOMMOROW

Starting your post with "@Totalbiscuit" doesn't actually do anything.

Also, wait, what? Is everybody going to collectively realize the game is in poor shape, or will "one e-celebrity" be the deciding factor? Your phrasing is confusing.

And you seem to flip flop between "this game deserves the terrible reputation it's going to have shortly" and "it's actually a pretty good game but Totalbiscuit is going to get everyone to hate it".

Worked out fine for Minecraft. Maybe he thinks it's terrible for other reasons.

the first sentence is what he said in twitter

the rest is me

hes gonna do a rant tomorrow because they released the game on steam while it is right now still in beta

also people on Reddit have been saying that the game is a scam and this will just fuel the fire with that

Man, quotation marks are your friend. It looked like the ramblings of a mad man before I realized you were trying to quote that guy.

Anyway, I think if they are asking money for a game it's totally acceptable for someone to criticize it. I don't care if they call it a beta, it's a paid product. Reviewers are within their right to tell people if they should buy the game now. They may return to the game once it's in full release or they may not. It's a risk the developers take.

Been playing Dayz and that game..... man that game is intense and fun. This just seems like a total ripoff of what DayZ did in the most disgusting way possible.

im just saying for a game with approximatly 800,000 registered users its gonna be bad if a guy with 900,000 subs on YouTube makes a 40 minutes rant video about it

Well it's got a pretty shitty name.

fixed, and yeah i guess they could deserve it but there only charging $14 dollars for it so a 40 minute rant seems a bit unessary

#10 Posted by BisonHero (5658 posts) -

@connerthekewlkid: Ah. Quotation marks would have helped make it clear that you were quoting someone on Twitter.

The rumours about the way the business of the game is being run are certainly concerning. Even if they're not true, they've released the game while it is missing what sound like some pretty significant features.

I think you're over-estimating how much sway 1 person has. But that's just me speaking and I don't particularly listen to random e-celebrities' comments.

#12 Posted by Barrabas (323 posts) -

@connerthekewlkid: For what it's worth, I've actually played War Z and it seems alright. Though I found it nearly impossible to get a firearm. It seemed as though anyplace that might have one was being camped out by griefers 24/7. Day Z's larger map makes it easier to get weapons before being destroyed by others. That's my only real problem with the game as it stands, or as it stood a couple months ago anyway.

It's a shitty reskin of War Inc. and a scam.

You are stupid if you bought it and deserve a bad game.

who knows it could just all blow over, or it could completely ruin there reputation like Rhinocrunch did but theres already a giant flame war about this game and this could burn down the whole place

Actually I've enjoyed my time with it, and it was cheap enough where even if it were a scam, I wouldn't be any worse for wear. But I guess fun can't compete with the holy majority internet vote.

Exactly. Unless your game is mind-numbingly interesting even when it's only half-finished, devs should really avoid releasing their game when it isn't feature complete. Minecraft got away with it and Don't Starve is getting away with it for similar reasons. But if you're making Generic Multiplayer Zombie Game: The Game, consider waiting until you've actually finished the game.

This whole thing reminds me of ORION: Dino Beatdown or Legends of Pegasus, in that when you see a $15-$30 Steam game from a developer you've never heard of, do some research because that price range occasionally contains games that were rushed to release for one reason or another.

@TheHT: you could argue about the reskin yes but the scam thing was proven wrong months ago people play it on twitch and there are plenty of youtube videos of the game, but people still claim the devs are going to pull out and disappear with there money

This game is terrible. It makes me sad that its the #1 seller on steam

The preorder/alpha access cost me more when I bought it from the devs (the Steam $25 package was going for $30 when they first released it). Seems like they dont give a shit about the people who supported them.

DO NOT BUY!

did you even read the thread?

#22 Posted by eskimo (459 posts) -

@connerthekewlkid: Yeah, its a thread about how terrible WarZ is so my comments fit right in.

#23 Posted by connerthekewlkid (1770 posts) -

@eskimo: well just FYI the 25$ steam version doesnt include the $15 in game cash the original $30 dollar game came with

#24 Edited by eskimo (459 posts) -

@connerthekewlkid: What?! Yes it does!

The $25 (which is currently 10% off) is described as

Buy the War Z and 2100 Gold Credits.

@connerthekewlkid: What?! Yes it does!.

they gave out $25 worth of in game currency to people who got the $30 version last patch, people who bought it on steam now wont get that

#26 Edited by eskimo (459 posts) -

@connerthekewlkid: but you werent talking about the $25 which they gave out( after they wiped out the original $15 dollars worth, so realistically it was only 10 but HEY THATS PROBABLY TOO MUCH MATH FOR YOU) You were talking about the $15 dollars included with the original package. The whole thing is highly suspect

Just because someone here has bought it doesn't mean someone else reading this might find the video helpful. Maybe try thinking before posting.

Not to mention if I had bought a game and saw this video I'd be pretty disgusted.

Still only seems like about 2,500 people are playing. I bet when the standalone version of DayZ comes out it'll be way more popular. Supposed to be out this month. At least that was their goal.

#40 Posted by kaos_cracker (538 posts) -

I've seen gameplay of the beta and it seems very early beta to me, so there are probably a lot of things that may be changed later on. i doubt they will do a full release of it anytime soon, they just probably want money to help support them to finish it. I have never seen or had some e-celebrity tell me about how bad a game is or anything. If it is bad, I'll play it myself or see more reliable reviews about it.

you really have no idea what kind of disgusting scam Orion: Dino Beatdown is, right?

or maybe better, you are the kind of moron who brought dino beatdown and somehow developed a stockholm syndrome over spiral games?

People like to wildly overestimate how many people have heard of or care about TotalBiscuit, Zero Punctuation, etc.
The only gaming e-celebrity that legitimately continues to have a monstrous audience is Penny Arcade, and they kinda dance around giving broad opinions of games.
