International Superstar Soccer 64 was the first game of the franchise to hit the Nintendo 64 in 1997.

Overview

This is the series's first game released for the Nintendo 64 released in the beginning of the Nintendo 64's lifespan, this version is exclusive for the Nintendo 64. It features 36 of the most famous national teams around the world, although the original names of the players at the time were not included and replaced with fictional and often common names of each country.

There is a good variety of game modes to choose from. You can go straight to the action by playing a quick match, or participate in one of the two championship modes, International Cup or World League. The player can also play a game of penalty shoot-out or try to beat the many scenarios, each with a different kind of challenge for the player to overcome. The game doesn't have internal memory so the player will be asked for a memory card inserted into the Nintendo 64 controller to save the progress, since the championship modes are quite long, especially World League, it's a good idea to have one.
