Overview
The most famous use of the iPod in video games is arguably by Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4). The game begins with Snake in possession of an iPod which can be used to listen to a number of songs as well as the MGS4 Integral podcast. More tracks for the iPod can be obtained through a number of means such as downloading them, finding them in game, helping militia groups and holding up guards.
Despite many beliefs to the contrary Metal Gear Solid 4 was not the first game to feature an iPod. A 4th generation iPod was featured in Atari's Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. The iPod could be used to select songs via an in-game menu and additional iPods could be discovered as in-game objects. The iPods were usually hidden in secret, hard to reach locations and granted the player a new song each time they found one.
