God of War II continues the story of Kratos as he wields his newly-bestowed god-like powers, much to the dismay and fear of the other gods.

Is not as Good as its Predecessor.

God of War 2 is the second installment to the god of War series on Ps2. Like in the first game, you again play as Kratos as he yet again goes on an epic story of revenge against the Gods.

God of War 2 directly starts off where the first game left off. Kratos slayer of Ares is now the new God of War. But Kratos is still haunted by the memories of his past and the only way he can deal with it is by fighting. So Kratos sends his Spartan army on a crusade of pillage and destruction. The Gods of Olympus do not like this so Zeus decides to take Kratos's godly powers from him and in an epic battle; Kratos is sent to the underworld. It is then that Kratos meets the Titans who give their powers to him and tell him that there is only one way he can get his revenge; by finding the Sisters of Fate. So once again, Kratos sets off on an epic quest to defeat the Gods or .

God of War 2 is like its predecessor in many ways. Once again, Kratos is wielding deadly blades, although this time they are the Blades of Athena. You have the same old stuff like Red Orbs to upgrade weapons, Green Orbs for Health and Blue for Magic. However, this time there are no Gods to help you on your quest; only Kratos and the en caged Titans. You still have four types of Magic that you can collect in the game some that are very similar to God of War 1's Godly powers. The four magic’s for this game are; Eurales Head (it is exactly like Medusa's head), Typhons Bane (like Zeus's Fury), Atlases Quake (like Poseidon's rage) and Cronos's rage (which is also like Poseidon's rage). As per usual, you have to collect six Gorgon eyes to upgrade health and six Phoenix Feathers to upgrade Magic. You have a new rage called rage of the Titans that works exactly like Rage of the Gods but with the added bonus of being able to turn it off once you have started to use it, something you could not do in God of War 1.

One of the main reasons why I dislike this game compared to its predecessor is because the game focuses more on the Gods and the Sisters of Fate than Kratos himself. The first game was great because you were learning about Kratos as a person throughout the whole game and I think that without that story of Kratos’s past behind it, the game seems almost empty. I think that if they had included more detail into Kratos in god of War 2 the game would be a more likable to me.

However, God of War 2 has a lot of new stuff included with it. One of the most prominent is the fact that you can fly to a few of your destinations on a Pegasus. You can only do this twice in the entire game so again I think that they could have included this into the game more. You also acquire Icaruses wings later in the game. This allows Kratos to glide off high ledges and so he can reach things that he could not get when merely jumping. There are also little parts of the game where you can use Kratos’s Blades of Athena to swing on rocks and over caverns. It is quite fun to do, but it becomes to easy sometimes. You also get to wield The Golden Fleece, which is like a big piece of armor Kratos can use to parry attacks. It is much like the ‘Sun shield’ you can acquire in God of War Chains of Olympus.

The mythology in this game is like the firsts, great. It is very accurate but there is not a lot of new beasts to fight which I find disappointing. One of the new types of mythological beasts you fight would be the Skeleton warriors. They are pieces of bone until you walk over them, and then they become skeletons who are quite good swordsmen. You still face the usual beasts though, like Cyclops’s, Undead Legionaries, Minitors, and Harpies. Most of them look the same although the God of War crew has put more effort into making them look even more realistic and impressive. For example, the Cyclops’s seem to have eyes now, something that the God of War team said they just could get in God of War 1.

As like in God of War 1, there are both mental and physical challenges to overcome. God of War has not left out the puzzles that Kratos must complete for which I am grateful because God of War needs puzzles. These puzzles are very challenging but not to challenging so that you will just throw down the controller and give up. The mental challenges are really just the same as God of War 1. Although they like to combine both mental and physical challenges in God of War 2 a lot more than in God of War 1. For example, you may be getting constantly attacked whilst trying to discover how to solve the puzzle. While this is original, I think it can really annoy some people who have trouble with the puzzles.

You meet quite a lot of people from Greek mythology in God of War 2. Some of these people include Icarus, Perseus, and Prometheus. All of them are quite interesting people characters, although you never get to really know any of them. You also meet up with an old enemy from Kratos’s past who now works for Hades…

Overall, God of War 2 is a great game and if you like the God of War franchise then you must play it. It has all of the combat that God of War 1 offers, and even though the storyline is weaker, it is still a really good game that is worth playing.

Violence and the 2010 Olympics, part 2 0

God of War 2 is a lot like the Olympics, if you think about it for a second and no longer. There’s a decidedly Greek undertone, you have multiple nations going to war against each other (in this case, gods vs titans), there’s an overpriced musical score to accompany it, and there’s a torch or two involved. Of course, there are differences, too. One uses torches are part of tradition while the other uses them to charcoal the living. One costs the player $60 at launch while the other costs a ci...

More of the same--but without the issues 0

There were small things keeping God of War from being an entirely fluid experience, and yet it was still a blast to play. God of War II effectively eliminates these issues, and -- unless you've already had your fill of Square-Square-Triangle combos -- this title is one of the best overall action experiences you'll find. God of War never prided itself on the discipline and challenge that Devil My Cry and Ninja Gaiden present. Its focus is on making sure you don't have to work incredibly hard to...
