It's... Madden?!
Reviewing Madden every year must become quite a tedious task. I mean the NFL itself usually doesn't change enough to bat an eye at nor does the technology both regarding software and hardware that creates these games. That said I feel that Madden and other sports games need to have something of their own rating criteria. You cannot realistically expect an entirely fresh experience on a yearly basis with no new hardware and sports that continue to follow long standing traditions.
Essentially if you've taken the time and money to purchase yourself a copy of Madden this year, you either love football enough to where the changes aren't much of an issue, haven't bought a new Madden in a couple years and are looking for a newly updated roster set, or some very rare reason that is not worth my mentioning.
Looking at this through a sports game perspective like I mentioned earlier there isn't much that needs to be said. It clearly looks and plays like a Madden game, which sadly over the years hasn't been the case at least a couple times. The things they have changed have not affected any core game play and the graphics HAVE been updated, at least as much as we can expect from a Madden title.
The best recommendation I feel I can give a Madden game is simply this. They didn't break anything and the graphics look better. The control sets still allow for putting in as much detail as you want if that's your thing and if not the play calling can practically be done for you. The player animations look the best they ever have and the action during plays looks as realistic as ever. While the booth commentary seems decent, offers enough depth to not get repetitive that quickly and isn't annoying.
Another thing I want to hit on is the achievements, I feel the achievements in this year's Madden are quite good as in they aren't ridiculous but will offer a fair amount of additional fun if they are something that interests you. Some previous years of Madden have had some extremely difficult achievements while some far too easy.
Anyone that wants to know the details on the hardcore play... well honestly you don't really give a shit about this review and you'll have already bought the game anyways.
If you like some American Football and want a fresh roster and faces this game will not disappoint but as usual it won't be blowing your mind either.
READY, BREAK!
