Is Rocky IV a Christmas movie?

What with it being December and all, I was talking with some friends about what our favourite Christmas movies are and my list was Die Hard, Jungle All The Way, It's a Wonderful Life, The Santa Clause and Rocky IV. The first four were accepted with nods and agreements but no one really understood my pick of Rocky IV.

Think about it. The main fight takes place on Christmas Day, Paulie's Robot is dressed up as Father Christmas during the fight and the speech given at the end by Rocky is all about caring, sharing and loving your neighbours, be they hard working yankees or greasy communists.

By the way, if you're not a Rocky fan or not a fan of Rocky IV, your opinion is instantly invalid.

Uh no. Plus, Rocky sucks but you can't invalidate my argument because this is a public board. Things to remember:

Just because it has snow does not mean it is a Christmas movie.
Any movie by Rankin & Bass is an immediate classic for the holidays.

I would list more but, what's the point.

Come on, the movie has James Brown, a talking robot, and two montage songs. It's not just a Christmas movie, it's an everyday of the year movie.

Dude you are terribly into Rocky Movies are not ya ? Guess what I loved/watched 'em all . though Rocky Balboa (2006) is my favorite

Die Hard is pretty much the perfect Christmas movie.

Die Hard is pretty much the perfect Christmas movie.

Nope. A Year Without a Santa Clause, Jack Frost, Christmas List, Elf, Santa Clause, etc. Those are the "perfect" Christmas movies.

It just stands out as having too many problems. Like there's no final fight in the ring, Rocky's kid ages about 10 years in he space of a plane ride, the music is all hip-hop so it loses the Rocky feel. It's not necessarily bad, I just really don't like it.

Elf? With Will Ferrel? Seriously? Just because Christmas is the main theme, it doesn't mean it's a good Christmas film. Kind of like how Titanic is definitely a disaster movie even though it's primarily a love story. Santa Clause is amazing though.

Actually, Elf is a pretty good movie.

It's a bit of a stretch. More of a stretch than Die Hard, which is my favorite christmas movie. I have to explain WHY it's a christmas movie every year when I put it on instead of watching A Christmas story for the 8th time in a row.

Die Hard takes place during christmas.. at a christmas party with christmas music and holiday cheer. It's pretty obvious to me.

Look, if you told me Die Hard and Rocky IV were Easter movies, I'd buy into it just so I have another excuse to watch them in all their glory.
