Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was applauded by critics and gamers alike for its lovable characters, vibrant art design, solid game play and huge world. The developers at Naughty Dog had created an instant classic that seemed to combine, and almost perfect, the best parts of every great platformer.While Naughty Dog could have pumped out an identical sequel and probably done quite well, they decided to turn Jak's world completely upside down. ill just paint the picture of the original Jak and Daxter game. Its really cute a funny and very banjo kazooie or Crash bandacoot-y. So you pick up Jak II not expecting anything to different but the game starts by Jak beign TORTURED for 2 years and you automatically realize this is gonna be so different. You've been transported into this horrific version of the world from the first game, It is a Dystopian future if theres ever been one the poor are very poor and the rich are living a life of lux...1 out of 1 found this review helpful.
The changes in design and tone in Jak II, while unexpected, aren't a major stretch considering what the first game established. Jak and Daxter had already embraced an open world design, allowing the GTA3 mission structure and city setting to easily click as II's hub. The characters aren't too soft to handle the angrier tone. Cousin series Ratchet and Clank proved that weapon combat can work really well in this type of platformer. The new pieces Jak II inherits are known quantities. Without a doubt this is one of the best platformers out on the PS2.The first game in the series "Jak and Daxter" was a very underrated game, with a strong storyline, great platforming and stunning graphics it was a terrific game. Jak II took a very different approach, it had a very GTA feel to it with the free roaming missions, vehicles and weapons and a lot of people feared Naughty Dog may have ruined the franchaise.
