James "Buster" Douglas was a heavyweight boxer during the 1990's. James worked his way to a earning a title shot against the champion Mike Tyson. While preparing for the fight James mother died. Sadden by the loss, James promised he would win the heavyweight title in dedication to her. Buster Douglas trained hard, working himself into the best shape of his life. During the championship fight, James did what other boxers seem afraid to do, he took the fight to Mike Tyson. As a result, he was out-boxing him. Tyson didn't seem to know how to handle Buster Douglas who was using his jab and the ring. Mike finally knocked Douglas down with an uppercut in the eighth round, but was shocked when he beat the count. Douglas continued to dominate Tyson finally knocking him out in the tenth round. Douglas shocked the world and became an instant celebrity. His moment on top however, would end during his first title defense. He faced Evander "Real Deal" Holyfield. Unlike his fight with Mike Tyson, Douglas completely let himself go, becoming out of shape. When the championship fight took place, Holyfield made short work of him, knocking him out in the third round.
Buster had only one video game made after him. It was called James "Buster" Douglas Knockout Boxing. The game was published by Sega for their Master System and Genesis. The game wasn't original howe ver. Sega took an arcade game called Final Blow developed by Taito and changed one of the black fighter's name to Buster Douglas. Sega would use Busters short fame during the Nintendon't ads to promote their 16-bit console against Nintendo's Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. He hasn't been included in any other boxing video games since.
