    Jeffery L. Briggs began his career at West End Games as a game designer before moving on to Microprose. There he helped design Colonization and Civilization II while providing music for many other releases. He later co-founded Firaxis Games and was instrumental in the design of Civilization III; he also wrote most of the original score for Civilization IV. Shortly after negotiating the acquisition of Firaxis Games by Take Two Interactive in 2005, Briggs left the company.
