Jet Set Radio Review 0

Graffiti is art. However, graffiti as an act of vandalism is a crime.Jet Set Radio is very nearly a complete metaphor for freedom. Smilebit accomplished the task by making its game small in scope and using every element of its design to construct a theme: it has a large, overbearing enemy in its fascist Tokyo-to and a graffiti mechanic that is an action-oriented, easily understood core concept that is itself a means to fight against the oppression. It gives characters the tools to move deftly th...

Classic Sega, in the best and worst way 0

When you think about it, there are a lot of similarities shared between Jet Set Radio and the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. Both had unique graphical styles, incredible soundtracks, were heavily focused on gameplay through momentum, and were in tune with a lot of things that were "cool" in their era. But for however important and iconic the original Sonic the Hedgehog was to Sega, I think it is important to recognize that it was also not a stellar game. Like the first game...

The Funky Rhythm's Comin' Back Atcha 2

I never was able to get my hands on a copy of the original Jet Set Radio (nor a Dreamcast, for that matter), but ever since I saw the case for its sequel on the Xbox at my cousin's house I've always wanted to get my mitts on either one. I wasn't even sure what the game was about when I had first discovered it then, and the only way to find out was to put it in the Xbox and try it out for myself, but, as luck would have it, my relatives had gone and lost it somewhere within the confines of their ...

I'm set to Jet! 0

Having never owned a Dreamcast, I've always been quite disappointed that many of the system's best games have remained exclusives- meaning I'd never gotten to play them on my Gamecube or PS2. Jet Set Radio (or Jet Grind Radio, as it was initially known in my beloved homeland) was one such game, never seeing any sort of re-release outside of its 2000 debut on the Dreamcast- a sequel on Xbox and a GBA game with the same title notwithstanding.Thankfully, that time has ended. Jet Set Radio has made ...

Your favorite pirate radio station, JET SET RADIOOOO 0

Jet Grind Radio (Jet Set Radio was the original title, changed due to the fact that Jet Set Radio was already trademarked in the U.S.)  Is a 3D Action, Sports title released in November of the year 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast.  The plot of Jet Grind Radio is relatively simple, You play as an array of characters from the skating/graffiti gang The G.G's.  The G.G's turf has been attacked by another graffiti gang, and its up to you to find out what gang has attacked your turf and hopefully put a st...

A trip down memory lane is great for existing fans 0

I am surprised it took Sega this long to release an HD port of the critically acclaimed Jet Set Radio. Then again, the company has made some disappointing decisions in my opinion, such as the stupid March 2013 delay for Anarchy Reigns (the game is fully translated already!) and HD ports for games that people most likely did not ask for. Who would take Sega Bass Fishingover ChuChu Rocket or Skies of Arcadia? Anyway, Jet Set Radio is finally here to tease our nostalgia for the game, but is nostalg...
