The game is scheduled for release in Spring 2009, but that all depends on whether or not Ceiling Cat is available to make it for the motion capturing.
We are currently in the planning stages for implementing microtransactions. While middleman/faux currency system currently used on Xbox Live has proven wildly successful, at Pragmatic Games we feel we can take it a step further. We are working with Diebold to develop a coin-operated box that plugs into your computer through USB. After the mandatory rootkit is installed to run Jetpack Cat, this coin-op box requires you to insert a quarter every 30 seconds to keep JPC alive.
In the future, a bigger model will work like a CoinStar machine, allowing you to empty your piggy bank into it to buy different colored fireballs, or a funny monacle for your cat. The only logistical problem is that shipping of the machine back to Pragmatic Games headquarters costs alot, so the user will have to manually drive it to our offices so we can cash it in. To avoid the rampant piracy of PC games, the rootkit will reformat the hard drive if the coin-op box is disconnected from the computer for more than 30 minutes.
We are also currently in talks with EA to utilize some of their in game advertising on billboards in the ice caves and volcano levels. It will look completely natural and seamlessly fit into the game. If our contract with EA Trax goes as planned, all music in the game will be replaced with songs about how much Avril Lavigne hates your girlfriend.
