Son of Kazuya Mishima and Jun Kazama. Uses the traditional Karate fighting style. Ever since his introduction to the series in Tekken 3, Jin has been one of the central characters of the series, winning The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 and 5.
Introduction
Since his introduction to the Tekken series in Tekken 3, Jin Kazama has been the main protagonist in the Tekken series, and has been featured in every Tekken game since his creation, as well as a brief appearance in Tekken: The Motion Picture (he appeared as a child, and is also set to be the main protagonist in the 2009 film titled "Tekken"). He was also one of the select few Tekken characters to be featured in Namco X Capcom, where he teams up with Taki (from Namco's other fighting game franchise Soul Calibur) Ryu (from Capcom's Street Fighter series). Jin is related to many key characters in the series. He is the son of Kazuya Mishima, grandson of Heihachi Mishima, who are two of the series most significant characters. He is also the great grandson of Jinpachi Mishima (who only appeared in Tekken 5 and Tekken: Dark Resurrection as the final boss), the son of Jun Kazama, and also the cousin of Asuka Kazama, although the two don't seem to be aware of their relation.
Tekken 3
Four years prior to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Jin's mother Jun Kazama warned Jin that if anything were to happen to her, to go to his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima. Jun felt an evil spirit near, and her senses proved correct, as she was attacked and presumably killed by Ogre (although her official status is "missing"). Following his mother's orders, Jin went to his grandfather, who taught Jin Advanced Mishima Style Karate. Jin trained hard under Heihachi's supervision, he was determined to get revenge on Ogre. After four years of intense training, Heihachi announced The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Jin, assuming that Ogre would be there (Ogre looked for strong fighters in order to absorb their souls and become stronger), entered the tournament with revenge on his mind.Jin is successful in defeating True Ogre, which causes him to suddenly explode. Almost immediately after his victory, Jin is attacked by Heihachi's Tekken force. As Jin struggles to get up, he is shot back down by Heihachi himself. Heihachi then walks away, only to be attacked by his grandson, who after being enraged by Heihachi's betrayal, had transforme d into DevilJin (due to the Devil Gene inherited from Kazuya Mishima, Jin has a dormant devil within him) and attacked Heihachi, then flew off into the distance.
Tekken 4
Ever since Heihachi's betrayal, Jin despised anything to do with the Mishima family, including their fighting style. Jin trained intensely in a sm all dojo in Brisbane Australia each day, learning a traditional Karate fighting style, in order to unlearn the Advanced Mishima Fighting style taught to him by his grandfather. After hearing rumors of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Jin immediately decided to enter, as it presented him with the opportunity to exterminate the Mishima family once and for all.During the course of the tournament, Jin was attacked by Heihachi's Tekken Force. Althoug h he took down waves of Tekken Force members, he was eventually captured, and taken to the Hon-Maru. After being tormented in his dream by his father, Kazuya Mishima, who was tempting Jin to "give in to the Anger" (which would have triggered the Devil within Jin, at that point Kazuya would then absorb the Devil out of Jin, making himself much more powerful). Jin awoke in a rage, and defeated Kazuya in a battle, knocking him unconscious. As Jin prepared to leave, Heihachi emerges, challenging him to a fight in an attempt to defeat him and take his Devil Gene. Jin defeats Heihachi, and then prepares to deliver a fatal blow to him (and also transforms into Devil Jin as he's holding Heihachi), when he briefly see's a hallucination of his mother, Jun Kazama. Jin drops Heihachi, and tells him to "Thank my mother, Jun Kazama". He then flies off into the night.
Tekken 5
After defeating both his father Kazuya Mishima, and his grandfather Heihachi Mishima at the Hon-Maru after the conclusion of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Jin flew off into the night, only to be awoken by a mysterious voice in a mountain forest, which appears to have been ravaged by a tornado. Jin however, knows that the damage to the forest was done by himself when he was in his Devil form. Upon returning to Yakushima, Jin was plagued by recurring nightmares. He felt the Devil's influence getting stronger within him. Upon hearing the announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Jin decides to enter, once again on a mission to destroy the Mishima bloodline.Jin successfully advances to the final found where he meets his great grandfather and tournament sponsor, Jinpachi Mishima. Jinpachi asks who he is, and Jin replies, stating that he is "the heir of the cursed bloodline and". He then goes on to defeat Jinpachi, making him the victor of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. In Jin's ending cinematic, we see Jin walking into a throne room of the Mishima Zaibatsu, filled with executives. Jin sits on the throne, looking bored.
Tekken 6
After winning The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Jin assumed control of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Jin caused chaos around the world, when he used the Tekken Force to eliminate each country's military power, then taking control of the countries energy re sources and ever their space colonies. Soon after this, the Mishima Zaibatsu declared itself an independent nation, declaring war against all who opposed them. Initially, the Mishima Zaibatsu looked to be the victor of the war that ensued, however, another company rose to power to oppose Jin's organization. This company was G Corporation, led by Jin's father, Kazuya Mishima. Kazuya puts a bounty on Jin Kazama's head, and almost as if he expected this, Jin announced The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.Additionally, Jin Kazama appears as the sub-boss in Tekken 6 and is referred to as "The King of Iron Fist" on the Sub-Boss screen. Before your battle with him he is seen sitting on his throne in the background of his stage (Gargoyle's Perch). He raises his head and smirks before the battle begins. While the announcer calls out "Round 1. Fight!" Jin powers up (using his b 1 2 animation) and as a result is in rage mode for the entire duration of your battle with him.
Devil Jin
Devil Jin represents Jin Kazama after the Devil Gene takes over him. Devil Jin was first playable in Tekken 5, although he first appeared in Jin Kazama's Tekken 3 ending cinematic, after Jin's devil gene took over him due to the rage Jin felt due to Heihachi's betrayal. Devil Jin also appeared in Jin Kazama's Tekken 4 ending movie, and has been a playable character in every subsequent release (Tekken 5, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and Tekken 6).Tekken 5
With the destruction of the Hon-maru, Jinpachi Mishima was unleashed. This caused the dormant devil within to awake. Two months later, Jin cannot fight off the devil within him, and has been completely overwhelmed. Taken over by the Devil Gene, Jin has transformed into an evil and destructive life form. In Devil Jin's ending cinematic, he absorbs Jinpachi Mishima's power, transforming into a new, possibly "complete" version of himself.Devil Jin also appears in Hwoarang's ending cinematic. In Hwoarang's ending, we see that Hwoarang was able to defeat his rival, Jin Kazama, and we now see him riding his motorcycle on a Korean freeway. While riding he, see's a figure ahead, which turns out to be Devil Jin, who uses his telekinetic power to destroy Hwoarang's motorcycle, causing it to explode. Hwoarang is thrown off his bike, but after taking a moment to get to his feet he mutters something in Korean to himself. As he prepares to fight Devil Jin, a smile creeps on Hwoarang's face.
Devil Within
Jin is also featured in the "Devil Within" side game in Tekken 5 (and while the player controls Jin, they have the ability to transform into Devil Jin). Although the player mainly plays as Jin, Devil Jin is an integral part of the story of this mode. In the modes prologue, it is stated that Jin is trying to rid himself of the Devil Gene, and that the closer he got to a certain foreign laboratory, it became harder to control the devil within him. Upon being ambushed by a squadron of Jack robots, Jin was knocked out, but then transformed into Devil Jin. The prologue mentions that "At this point, Jin hadn't realized what awoke when the devil came out".After playing through the first bit of the game, Jin comes across four clones of Heihachi Mishima, created by G Corporation. Jin defeated these clones, and learns that G Corporation scientists are after Ogre/True Ogre (from Tekken 3). Jin fought hard to keep the Devil Gene under control. He found and defeated True Ogre, and after doing so, it is stated that Jin realized that Ogre awakened when Jin became the devil. After Jin defeated a ball of energy and the monsters contained in the underground area where Ogre was sealed, Jin learned that the creatures he just defeated were the ones sealing Ogre away. Ogre then charged straight for the outside world, which caused the devil within Jin to awake once again. Trying desperately to control the devil within him, Jin heads for a final battle with Ogre.
After Jin defeated Ogre, Jin attempted to leave the underground ruins, but was surrounded by hundreds of Jack robots. The devil within Jin took over immediately. Devil Jin was successful in destroying the attacking Jack robots, and as Jin opened his eyes, his mind was comforted by a white light, which protected him from the evil inside him. Jin regained consciousness, and the light disappeared as he floated into the sky. Jin then gathered his thoughts, and stretched his black wings and, his Tekken 3 and Tekken 4 ending movies, flew off into the night sky.
Tekken 6
During the last tournament, upon Jinpachi Mishima's approach, the Devil within Jin took control of Jin. Upon Devil Jin's victory over Jinpachi Mishima, he absorbed the Devil within Jinpachi, thus completely overwhelming Jin. As the victor of the Tournament, Jin takes control of the Mishima Zaibatsu and immediately begins his plan to control the world, using his Tekken Force as a spy network and eventually declaring war against the entire world. As G-Corporation, lead by Kazuya Mishima, rises as their main opposition, Jin announces The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6. The Jin the world once knew was gone, and come The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, Devil and Kazuya's long overdue battle will finally begin.
