He was born in Wyoming. He has a large scar on his face that he got from a bar fight. He was married and had a daughter shortly before becoming a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He was assigned to 3rd squad, under Matt Baker.

In Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 he is leading Baker's Fire Team throughout the game. He believes that he should be leading instead of Baker. At the end of the game he is promoted and will be leading 2nd squad.

In Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood you play as Red. Now, in charge of his own squad, Red learns how hard it really is to lead men into battle. During a battle the tip of his ring finger is shot off by a German soldier.
