    Born November 19th 1957, Joel Goldsmith was the third of four children belonging to Sharon Goldsmith, a singer, and Jerry Goldsmith, the well-known composer with whom Joel collaborated with several times.

    Goldsmith is perhaps best known for his compositions relating to the Stargate television franchise having adapted the original movie title composed by David Arnold for use in the television series Stargate SG-1. Goldsmith later went on to compose all of the music - Scores and main titles - for both spin-offs of the main show - Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe.

    Goldsmith composed many pieces for television and film alongside video games, such as Call of Duty 3.

    Goldsmith passed away on April 29th 2012 at his home in Hidden Hills, California due to cancer.
