Joel Marlin worked as a writer for Electronic Arts and MTV Games' ROCK BAND. He is a playwright and freelance writer in New York.

Marlin has taught playwriting in public schools in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. He has also worked as a copywriter for McGraw-Hill and written curriculum used by the Library of Congress. 


He is the author to the book and lyrics of INDIE NATION, a one-act rock musical commissioned by Readers Theatre Workshop. Funded by grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the show premiered off-Broadway in 2007 at the Theatre Row Studio Theatre before touring throughout New York City Public Schools.  


His plays include SCREAMING IN THE SNACK CAKE RAIN, read at the Atlantic Theater Company Studios and the Creative Center at Manhattan Theatre Club, and THE STATESMAN,  workshopped at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in 2009.
