Born in Lebanon, he emigrated to Sweden with his family when he was ten. His most famous movies are the comedies Jalla! Jalla! (2000) and Kopps (2003)

Variety declared him one of ten upcoming directors to watch in 2006. The same year he won the Nordic Council Film Prize for his film Zozo. In 2011 he co-hosted the gaming radio show P3 Spel on national public radio station Sveriges Radio P3. Late 2011 he started working on a game of his own along with the Uppsala, Sweden based Starbreeze Studios AB, and his role on P3 Spel was changed to regular guest rather than co-host. On September 27, 2012, the game was officially announced as Brothers: A Tale of two Sons, which released on August 7th of 2013 to critical acclaim.
